Garden Plot Applications are available at Linderman Creek’s Office, Town Hall or on the Garden Website www.westhillcommunitygarden.com. The 2022 fee is $20 per 20x20 plot with a maximum of 2 plots per household. Applications should be submitted to the Town Clerk, with applicable fee, by June 1st or as soon as possible. Remaining plots will become available in mid-June for those wanting more than 2 plots. Town of Ithaca Bicentennial Celebration – Ithaca Festival Parade We are excited to be able to commemorate our Bicentennial in the Festival this year to showcase our Pride in the Town and celebrate. Like so many other special moments, it was delayed, but we will be out in full force with a Town of Ithaca; Past, Present & Future float. For our 175th Anniversary, the Town installed many Historical Markers throughout our community. Please take a moment to check them out. Listing of Historical Markers in the Town REMINDERS – Tompkins County SIREN allows residents to receive alerts via phone, text and email, and answer poll questions that will give local officials critical information during emergency situations. Individuals who are signed up for alerts can also receive reliable information about the county’s COVID-19 response and other public health notifications. People who were previously signed up for Swift911will be automatically enrolled in the new system. However, they are encouraged to create a profile in the new platform. Residents of Tompkins County who were not previously signed up for Swift911 should sign up for free at: SIREN or by texting SIREN to 67283. They may also register by contacting the Department of Emergency Response at (607) 266- 2633, or email SIREN@tompkins-co.org. WATER/SEWER eBILLING eBilling for water/sewer debuted in December and we received a lot of feedback, thank you. The majority of comments were regarding the usage details found on the printed green cards not being in the notification. eBilling notification is just that, a notification that your bill is generated. If you want to see the details of your usage, you sign into your account and you can see a LOT of information; comparison by year, usage, past payments and more. Box 7143, Ithaca, NY 14851 AUTOMATIC PAYMENT OPTION NOW AVAILABLE! (ACH) This is separate from the eBilling program/platform run through Bolton Point and is a Town of Ithaca function. An enrollment form can be found here FORM, and you will need your W/S account number and the typical banking and routing information and attached voided check. The Board is responsible for reviewing and evaluating proposals, programs, staffing and budgeting and making recommendations to the Tompkins County Department of Youth Services and exploring ways to address concerns and issues affecting our young people. Contact Kate Shanks-Booth today, (607) 274-5310 or visit http://tompkinscountyny.gov/youth/board Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS) Town Supervisor Rod Howe was present for the ceremonial groundbreaking and announcement of $8.5M federal funding for the project. CHESS will be “pushing cutting edge research the rest of the world will follow and needs.” The synchrotron is a particle accelerator where high-energy electrons are made to travel rapidly around which produces an intense beam of light, resulting in incredibly powerful x-rays, allowing scientists to study things at the atomic level. The project was granted Site Plan Approval by the Town’s Planning Board and received variances from the Town’s Zoning Board of Appeals and is in the permitting process. ENGINEERING EFFORTS The Scoop Forest Home Walkway Improvements Project: Forest Home Walkway is currently closed. Improvements and reconstruction are slated to begin within the next 4 to 6 weeks. Minor traffic alterations and lane closures at various points throughout the project are expected with target completion of the project and reopening of the Walkway in late summer. Campbell Avenue, Hopkins Place Water Systems Improvement Project: Contractors will return in the next 2-6 weeks to complete installation of guiderail and final restoration work. Minor traffic alterations and lane closures on both Campbell Ave and Hopkins Pl are anticipated. King Rd East Water Main Extension Project: Beginning on or about May 9th. Work will be along Troy Rd and King Rd E, as well as within the South Woods Subdivision. Temporary lane closures will happen daily with the target for completion in late summer. CLERKS CORNER … March’s “Luck of the Irish” Fun … SPRING … although supply chain restrictions delayed the January snow until yesterday…. Our lobby tree was decorated with spring pastels, bunnies and other furry friends to get us in the spirit for better weather. The week of May 1st will be our second Annual Run for the Roses/Derby Week and our lobby will be decked out for the Kentucky Derby and Triple Crown, with Derby hats and fascinators for anyone to join in for a glamour shot in the lobby or Clerk’s Office. Whatever will we think of next …….hmmmm
