EASEKDC FOR RESERVOIR SITE AMID WATER MAINS
THIS INDElf1 n' made this ZkM day of July, 1954, between
ITHACA C0LL303, an educational corporation daly organized.under the laws of
the State of New York and having its principal office in the City of Ithaca,
New York, hereinafter referred to as the grantor, and TOWN OF ITHACA, a
municipal corporation and political subdivision of the County of Tompkins in
the State of Now Yorks hereinafter referred to as the grantee, WRTiE.S58TH: µ
That whereas the grantor is the owner in fee of a tract of
land located on the east side of the Danby Road in the territory of the South
Hill 1ASter District, Extension No. 1, and the grantee, acting pursuant to
Article.12 of the Town Law on behalf of said water district, is desirous of
constructing a 500,000 gallon water reservoir on said tract and of acquiring
an easement permitting the construction and maintenance of such reservoir on
the site hereinafter described, and the laying and maintenance of a water line
connecting the said rezervoir with the water zain on the'Danby Road;
NOW TH'- ORE, in consideration of the sum of one dollar
paid ty the grantee to the grantor, and the promise of the grantee that it
will appropriately grade the said reservoir site and plant and maintain a
satisfactory evergreen screen around the western half of the reservoir, the
grantor hereby grants and conveys to the grantee, its sucessrora and assigns,
an easement over, through and across the following described site, for the
construction, reconstruction and maintenance thereon of a water reservoir in
approxiaately the location shown on the :nap hereinafter referred to, and for
the laying and maintenance of a co-Lnecting water pipe or pipes between the
said reservoir and the water pipe line hereinafter mentioned, with right of
ingress and egress to and from said site fcr all purposes incidental to the
construction and maintenance of said reservoir and pipe lines, including the
grading; and planting of the site.
The following is a description of the reservoir site to which
the above-granted easement appertains:- All that tract or parcel of land
situate in the Town of Ithaca, County of Tatapkins and State of New York,

the center line of the Dantr Road; thence northerly 10.5 feet to a pipe at the
wrtbeast comer of said right of way, thence south 32*Ul east 224 feet to a

pin; thence south 57%5' vast 182 feet to a pipe; thence north 32*U" vast
129 feet to a pipe in an old fence line; thence northeasterly along the said
fence lies 182 feet to a pipe; thence north 72'40' east 32 feet to the place 4
of beginning. TLs center of the circle'.which.ia the foundation for the
proposed water reservoir is south 1*351 east from the point of beginning is
the foregoing deseripti�on of the reservoir site.
And the grantor also hereby grants and conveyes to the grantee,
its successors and assigns, a right Of-WAY over, through and across the land
hereinafter described in and upon which to lad►, operate and maintain a water `
pipe or pipes for the transportation of water between the reservoir to be
constructed on the site hereinabove described and the water main on the Dant
-Road, such pipe or pipes to be laid within a space not exceeding 20 feet in
width and with right of ingress and oeress to and from said right of way and
to and from the said reservoir over said right of way for all purposes. The.
center line of said right of way leaves the east line of the Dante► Food at a
point 25 feet north of the center line of a culvert over a small brook which
crosses said highway near the southeast comer of lands now owned by the
National Cash Register Compare (No. 952 Danby Road) and rugs south 320451 east
a total distance of 1068 feet from the center line of the Danby Road to the
west boundary of the reservoir site.
The possession and use of the said premises are to be and
remain in the said grantor, its successors and assigns, subject to the grant
herein rude.

reservoir site, reference is hereby made to a map mads ty Carl Crandall, C.E.,
dated Jolt 7, 1951, filed in the Tompkins County Clerk's Office, entitled
