HomeMy WebLinkAboutBF168963-001REGULAR MEETING OF THE ITHACA TOWN BOARD THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2002 TB RESOLUTION NO. 2002-150 - Renaming a Portion of Christopher Circle to Christopher Lane WHEREAS, the road running west from Warren Road to Siena Drive is known as Christopher Circle on its westerly portion and as Christopher Lane on its easterly end; and WHEREAS, it would be desirable and more consistent if the entire road was named Christopher Lane, so as to avoid confusion with the adjacent loop road which is also named Christopher Circle; and WHEREAS, there is only one property on the portion of the road for which the name change is being suggested, and that property is owned by the Town of Ithaca as a water tank site; and WHEREAS, the Town Highway Superintendent and the Director of Engineering believe there would be no adverse consequences to the water tank site by renaming the portion of the road to which it is adjacent; and WHEREAS, the Town Highway Superintendent and the Director of Engineering recommend the proposed name change; and WHEREAS, a public information hearing on the proposed change was held by the Town Board at its meeting on October 3, 2002, after written notice was provided to all of the residents on the loop road named Christopher Circle with is accessed in part by the portion of the road which is proposed for renaming; and WHEREAS, no person has written or spoken against the proposed name change; and WHEREAS, the Town Board has duly considered the matter and determined it would be in the best interests of the Town and its residents to effect such name change; NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby RESOLVED, that on the recommendation of the Highway Superintendent, the Town Board of the Town of Ithaca does hereby rename to Christopher Lane the portion of Christopher Circle that runs westerly from its intersection with Warren Road approximately 1100 feet to the point at which the road is already name Christopher Lane; and it is further RESOLVED, that the loop road running form the renamed Christopher Lane south, then west, then north back to Christopher Lane continue to be named Christopher Circle; and it is further RESOLVED, that pursuant to Section 64(9) of the Town Law the Town Clerk shall, within 10 days after the effectivie date of this resolution, notify the Tompkins County Division of Assessment, the Planning Board of the Town, the Tompkins County Clerk, the Tompkins County Engineer, and the Post Office Department of the United States of such re -designation of a portion of Christopher Circle to Christopher Lane; and it is further RESOLVED, that the Town Highway Superintendent be directed to promptly arrange for a change in signage so that said segment of road is properly designated as Christopher Lane rather than Christopher Circle on the effective date; and it is further RESOLVED, that the Town Supervisor and all other officers of the Town be and each hereby is authorized and directed to take such additional steps as my be necessary to effectuate the change of name set forth above.
