A local law providing for a partial tax exemption of
real property owned. by certain persons witl,, limited Income
who are 65 years of age or over,
BE IT ENACTED by the Town Board of the Town of Ithaca
as follows:
Sections 1This law Is enacted pursuant to the provisions
of Section T,P 7 of the Real Property Tax Law as added to by
Chapter 61.6 of the Laws of 1.966 and as amended through Chapter
291 of the Laws of' 1970.

of the Real Property Tax Law, as above more particularly

specified, real. property located In the Town of Itheca used RMN
exclusively for residential purposes and, owned by one or more
persons, each of whom is sixty-five years of age or, over, shall
be exempt from taxation by said Town to the extent of fifty
per centum of 'be assessed valuetion thereof. This exemption, 01",
however-, shall. be limited to such property and persons as meet
the conditions, qualifications, exclusions and limitations set
forth in said Section 467 of" the Real Property Tax Law and shall
be in accordance with and comply with said Section of the Real
Property Tax Law, as now adopted. and as it may be amended. An,
exemption shal.1. be granted only if the Income of the owner or
the combined Income of the owners of the property does not exceed
-the sum of FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARD ($'5,000.00) for the Income 'tax
year as described In Section 467 of the Real Property Tax Law.
Where title Is vested in either, the husband or the wife, the
combined income may not exceed such sum.
Application for such exemption must be made
by the ,
or all of the owners of the property, on forms
to be furnished by the Tompkins County Division of Assessment,
or by, any other office or person charged with the responsibility
of furnishing the same, and. shall. furnish the Information and
be executed in the manner required or prescribed. on such forms,
and. shall be filed In such office at least ninety days before
the day, for filing the final assessment roll.

t,cLj�M,. Any conviction of having made any willful
false statement In. the application for such exemption shall be
punishable by a fine of not more than one hundred dollars and
shall disqualify the applicant or applicants frorn further
exemption for, a period of' five years.
Sg,otiou-", This local law shall not apply to any taxes
assessed prior to the effective date of adoption.
Sec�Lqlft_fi, This local law shell. become effective
immediately.
