A special meeting was called and field for the sole item cif as resolution request for alienation.
TB Resolution 2019 — 086: Approval of Home Rule Request f6r the Alienation of the
Coddington Road Comnitunity Center Easement used for Park and Recreation PurIjose.s
Whereas, an Easernent situated on lands owned by the Coddington Road Community Center, Inc,
was acquired by the Town in 1986 and expanded in 2008, arid served as, and was designated for,
park and recreation purposes, and
Whereas, (lie Coddington Road Coniniunity Center, Inc. would like to use their land on which
the Easement sits to expand their childcare and coniniunity facilities, and the Town Board has
deterrinned that the recreation purposes of said Easement can be satisfied elsewhere in the '['own,
and
Whereas, the Town Board has discussed the history and current usage ofthe Easement at
multiple Conu,nittee and Board meetings, arid
Whereas, the 'Town of Ithaca w i sties to discontinue the use of said Easement for park and
recreation purposes and wishes the New, York State Legislature to authorize and cinpower the
Town to alienate such Easerrient so that the Town can acquire another Easciiient of the saine size
on an adjacent location of the property owned by the Coddington Road COMI'laUnity Center, Inc.,
and
Whereas the Senate Bill S644 I has been put f(-,)rth, an(:[
Whereas, the State of New York requires the'rown Board to file a I-lorrie Rule Request for the
alienation process to move forward, now therefore be it,
Resolved. that the Town Board of the Town of' Ithaca does hereby authorize the Town
Supervisor and Town Clerk to file a Home Rule Request with the New York State Senate
requesting the New York State Senate to enact a special law entitled "An Act in relation to
aUthOriZing the town of Ithaca, COUnty of Tompkins, to alienate and convey certain parcels of
land used as parklands,"
