ITHACA COLLEGE APPEAL - DRYCLEANING STATION & TAILOR SHOP - DORM 12
This Public Hearing was called to order at 8 : 00 P . M . by
Chairman David Powers . Zoning Officer Franklin read the
legal ad as published in the Ithaca Journal .
Mr . Farinella appeared in behalf of Ithaca College appealing
the decision of the Zoning Officer denying permission for a
tailor shop and drycleaning station at Danby Road , which
permit was denied under Article IV , Section 11 of the Zoning
Ordinance .
Mr . Farinella pointed out that the enrollment has grown to
the point where it is inconvenient for the students to travel
into the City with their cleaning . The proposed tailor shop
and drycleaning station will be located in the basement of
Dorm 12 , next to the barber shop . The proposed shop and
station will occupy about 500 square feet and , with the
barber shop , will be the only commercial facility .
Zoning Officer Franklin read the minutes of the September 19 ,
1967 meeting wherein it was stated that the barbershop
would be the last business to go into this building . It was
noted that the tailor shop and drycleaning station were actually
in the building before the barber shop , but it was not thought
necessary to ask special approval for same .
Upon motion by Mr . Sovocool , seconded by Mr . Powers and carried
by unanimous vote , it was- moved to grant special approval to
Ithaca College for the operation of a tailor shop and dry -
cleaning station in the basement of Dorm 12 on the South
Hill Campus .
This Public Hearing adjourned at 9 : 00 P . M .
Respectfully submitted ,
Cheryl Beninati
Secretary
