TOWN OF ITHACA PLANNING BOARD
JUNE 22, 1993
The Town of Ithaca Planning Board met in regular session on
Tuesday, June 22, 1993, in Town Hall, 126 East Seneca Street,
Ithaca, New York, at 7:30 p.m.
PRESENT: Chairperson Carolyn Grigorov, Robert Kenerson, Virginia
Langhans, Herbert Finch, James Ainslie, William Lesser,
Candace Cornell, Stephen Smith, Floyd Forman (Town
Planner), John Barney (Town Attorney).
ALSO PRESENT: John Whitcomb, Dave Auble.
Chairperson Kenerson declared the meeting duly opened at 7:42
p.m.
Chairperson Grigorov read the Fire Exit Regulations to those
assembled, as required by the New York State Department of State,
Office of Fire Prevention and Control.
AGENDA ITEM: PERSONS TO BE HEARD.
There were no persons present to be heard. Chairperson
Grigorov closed this segment of the meeting.
AGENDA ITEM: WORKING SESSION, DRAFT COMPREHENSIVE PLAN,
Chairperson Grigorov declared the working session for the Town
of Ithaca Draft Comprehensive Plan duly opened at 7:44 p.m.
Chairperson Grigorov asked if anyof the Board members had any
changes or concerns regarding the Executive Summary portion of the
Comprehensive Plan.
The Board discussed the changes that had been made to the
Executive Summary and came to a consensus that the Executive
Summary was complete as amended. The Planning Board discussed the
Future Land Use Patterns Map. The Board decided that the Future
Land Use Patterns Map would not be included in the Executive
Summary,
The Board asked that the commercial areas be mentioned in
relation to the Future Land Use Patterns Map, and that it be stated
on the map that any properties under five acres would not be shown
on the map.
Town Planner Floyd Forman introduced Antoine Bryant to the
Planning Board as the Planning Department's student intern for the
summer. Mr. Forman stated that Mr. Bryant would be helping Town
staff make changes to the Comprehensive Plan, and that he had
helped to prepare the Future Land Use Patterns Map.

The Planning Board discussed the validity of using an overlay
map in conjunction with the Future Land Use Patterns Map. The
Board decided that the overlay map would be helpful for the process
of updating the Comprehensive Plan, but it would not be helpful to
make it part of the Plan when it becomes available to the public.
The Board concluded that the overlay map would cause confusion
between the Zoning Map and the Future Land Use Patterns Map,
Town Planner

that he would bring the map
back to the Board
for fine
tuning
with a frontace piece and will do
final revisions after
the
Public
Hearing,
The Planning Board discussed revisions to Chapter 4 of the
Town of Ithaca Draft Comprehensive Plan and decided to turn the
draft over to an editor for final grammatical errors.
Chairperson Grigorov declared the working session regarding
the Town of Ithaca Draft Comprehensive Plan duly adjourned at
9:29 p.m.
