DISCUSSION OF PROPOSED TOWN HIGHWAY BARN SITES ®
Mr . Fabbroni noted briefly some of the criteria behind the choosing
of a Town Barn site . For example :
1 . Six and one - half acres seems to be the size acreage needed .
2 . The site should be close to a major highway .
3 . It should be a site which has space for the needs of the Park Program
which the Town has embarked upon .
Mr . Fabbroni went through in great detail all of the sites that have
been presented as possibilities for the new Town Barn . Brief notations of
this discussion are set forth below .
Site 1 . Too small .
Site 2 . Cost $ 90 , 000 . 00 at least to renovate .
Site 3 . Parcel cost $ 120 , 000 . 00 ,
Site 4 . Land across from the County Barns and the Ithaca City School
District Bus Garage - - owner approached - - this land is absolu -
tely not for sale .
Site 5 . Five Mile Drive - - Mr . Marion ' s land -® Mancini ° s land 16 , 000 . 00
an acre and back land $ 5 , 000 . 00 an acre .
Site 6 . Seven Mile Drive - - Brink contacted Vasse and front , say 5 acres ,
for $ 15 , 000 . 00 .
Item 7 . In early May Fabbroni asked Board - - should we consider any other
sites . The answer was " no " do not consider any other sites . In
July the sites were discussed in terms of our plans for Coy Glen
although he did not refer to that directly .
Item 8 . Timetable set up .
Item 9 . Go to bid by the middle of August .
Item 10 . Then some complaints at a Town Board meeting .
Item 11 . Came up with ten sites .
Item 12 . The Seven Mile Drive site seems to Fabbroni to be the best one .
Item 13 . Are there any other areas ? South Hill - - could come up with a
site that is really central - - South Hill has the poorest access .
Northeast - - no . Forest Home - - no . East Ithaca - - downhill
side of reservoir impossible .
Mr . Slack commented that he did not think anything more can be done
in site seeking .
Consensus of Planning Board as stated by Mr . Slack :
It is the opinion of the Planning Board that the Seven Mile Drive
site is preferred , based on our discussion of the impact on the community ,
taking into account the availability of the land , impact on the community ,

Planning Board - 2 - June 30 , 1976
ease of accessibility to Route 13 , a natural buffering of neighboring
houses , size of land available , nearness to a State Highway that would
be mutually maintained , or at least maintained , for ease of access to
other areas of the County and easy access to the three major highways in
the County .
Respectfully submitted ,
Nancy M . Fuller , Secretary ,
