PLAI'7NING BOARD MINUTES

Members present wereo Chairman Marion, Liguori , Waring ,
Flumerfelt , and Vasse ,
Also present was : Robert Wells , Assessor ,
The meeting was called to order at 80* 05 P . M.
The minutes of the previous meeting were corrected and approved ,
National Cash Register Site lax: National Cash Register has
reques e a a pu Ic earing 'be head as they wish to have
the parking area at their new sales building extend beyond
the setback lime which was established by the Planning Board
at the time their site plan was wproved Flumerfelt stated,
that the State is proposing to widen Route 96B and if they
do sov the neva road will be only 15 feet from the. parking
area, as proposed by National Cash .
A motion was made by hlguori and seconded by Waring to hold
a public hearing at the next meeting , January 10 , 1963 at
7 : 30 P . M . for National - Cash and to inform the architect treat
he must be prepared to justify the variances Carried ,

road . They propose to have one lane down , two lanes up ; and
a parking lane on each side with culverts and c-drbs , It will
extend from the City line to just beyond National Cash. and
Ithaca Collegee The main .reason that the State is go:.ng ahead
• with the project at this time is because of the draznag
problem created by Ithaca College ,
- It was the f'eeling of the Board that this should be referred
to the Regional Planning Board for study , Mrd Tarbell of the
State Department of Public Works has requested that this Board
write ico thea stating their a ecommendatione ,
A motion was made by Flumerfelt and seconded by Liguori that
the secretary be instructed to write to the New York State
Department of Public Works requesting plans with respect to
their proposed reworking of Route 96BO directly south of the
City line , for use by this Board at a hearing to be held on
the National Cash parking and b' tudiea in its relation to the
effect on other . properties in the area. , Carried ,
Indian S rings Development and Woolf Sub division A letter
txom urns ea -y ompany was res y ne airman in regard
to the sign which they have erected on the Indian Springs
Developmente Burns has requested that the sign be allowed to
remain for a period of one year The sign is 4 feet by 6 feel

and exceeds the maximum allowed . A letter was also read from

Mrs . Woolf , developer of the Woolf Sub�divisionv requesting
that she be allowed to erect a sign for advertising purposes ,
the size to be 4 feet by 8 feet ,
A discussion followed on permitting developments and large
construction jobs to have signs for advertising and identifioa�
tion purposese The matter was referred to the Zoning Committee
for their recommendations at the next meeting ,
Town Rall Committee tat Possible sites for a Town Rall were
iscusse o VMse stated that the lot on the corner of
Bostwick Road and Five Mile Drives owned by Mrso Laughlin , could
be purchased for approximately $ 2 , 000 . The Town Hall could
probably be constructed at a cost of $ 11 to $ 17 per square foot ,
A motion was made by Liguori and seconded by Vasse to ask
the Town Board to consider the area in the vicinity of the
High School as a possible site for a Town Rall as it seems
to be favorable from the standpoint of accessability ®:,' the
Town as a whole and it would be worthwhile to investigate
land available in that; aream Carried ,
A motion was made by Vasse and seconded by Liguori to ask
the Town Board to consider , as an alternative , the lot ola .. ed
by Mrso Laughlin at the corner of Five Mile Drive and Bost
brick Road at a purchase price riot to exceed 52 , 000 for use as
a Town Hall site , A one ebry , cinder block with brick face ,
open interior to. utilize moveable partitions , truss constructed
Town Hall could be constructed for approximately 812 per
square foot , Carried
Amendment of Article TX Niro Wells asked the Board to snake
a recomm avf on = a proposed amendment to Article 1X
of the Zoning Ordinance , The matter was referred to the Zon�
ing Committee for their recommendation at the next meeting ,
Recreation Stud Committee .a The Chairman read a 'oriel' subm
m e y e eg1ona inning Board as to what the recreation
study should include and the probable cost , which would be
about $430 , The Recreation Study Cc-mmittee feels , however ,
that they are not ready for this study by the Regional Planning
Board at this time ,
