April 27 , 1961
The meeting was called to order at 7 : 30 P , M , by Vi. ce �Chairman
Phillips .
Present « Phillips , Waring , Wiggins , Marion , Bruska , and Wells .
Also present � Mr . Niederkorn , Mr . Casey , Dro Sprinkle , Dr . Baur ,
Prof. d . Federer , Mrr-, . Johnson , Mrs . Larson , and Mrs . Glock .
Prof . redere :t , speaking for other City residents present and (Ra4d
himself , expressed concern over rumors to the effect that the le�U4- 66„ G4
area in the Town adjacent to the Homestead Avenue and Homestead
Street area of the City was going to be built up . Their main .
concern seemed to be questions of drainage , zoning , and multiple
housing . The Board assured the group on all points , explaining
our Zoning Ordinance , Health Department requirements and other
restrictions , laws , etc . which affect the area and protect them ,
The question of a building permit for the Ideman Bowling Alleys
was brought up by Mr . Phillips and it was explained that Mr .
Zdeman had received permission from the Zoning & Board of Appeals ,gIle 5
last year on his proposed addition . A suggestion was made that
the Planning Board Chairman receive a copy of the Zoning Board
of Appeals minutes in order for both Boards to be aware of the
other ° s doings .
Mr . Phillips reported for the Committee on the Liberman proposal
on Last Shore :Drive .
During the ensuing general discussion , the ' following questions
were raised for which answers should be secured prior to any
action being taken by the Board :
1 . Should a site plan of the project be requested prior to
a decision on the rezoning requests
2 . Is the project , as a whole , econosmically feasible .
3e -that kind of a job will be done , on the wholee Idill it
be along the lines of whet was accomplished last year .
questions on stone levee .
5 . Proposed use for the Eas-t side of the road .
64 Difference in grade from road to railroad to the area in
question .
7 . How much actual demand is there for slips .
A motion was made by Mr . Wiggins , seconded by Mr . 'Jarinpr , and
carried that Mr . Phillips consult with M-r . . Liberman and7or his
attorney to obtain more informlation on the whole project prior
to the Board ' s making any recommendations .
Mr . Niederkorn presented preliminary maps for the new road pro
posals for the Northwest area of the Town . l"L /Y ~
Mr . Boynton e _rplained that if these roads were placed on the ofm
ficial map and the ... someone desired to build a house on the prom
posed ri ght � of �way , the Town would be lim--fted to a time within

which they would have to protect their plans and interests by
actually acquiring; the lands . It was generally felt that if
the roads were important enough to map out now ® they were imm
portant enough to protect if it became necessaryo
T?r � Niederkorn was directed to proceed to final maps 'to be prem
rented for :inclusion on the official map of the Tow. d He will
report at the next meeting . Mr . Niederkorn also advised that
the proposed Forest Home roads are still under study and have
been discussed with Cornell UnLversity and are being; studied
by there also .
