MINUTES OF PLANNING BOARD MEETING
FEBRUARY 10 , 1959
Present : Hurst , Phillips , Vasse and , Watson
Meeting began at 8 : . 10 p . m . and minutes of previous meeting approved .
1 . Mr . Fred Bryant , attorney for G . Ideman , appeared to request in-
formation concerning the request of Mr . Ideman for a change in zoning
of his property from residential to commercial . He was referred to
the Town Board for clarification of the present status of the request .
2 . An extended discussion of the proposed , revised zoning ordinance
was held . Mr . Hurst raised several questions on the following sections
of the proposed ordinance .
a ) Questioned whether Page 547 should be retained in
the residence zone .
b ) Suggested the addition of Apartment House to Page 549 .
c ) Questioned the desirability of completely abandoning
Junk Years in the Town of Ithaca .
d ) Suggested change on Page 9 - Section 1143 to omit " Sale
of Salvaged Amto Parts or " and add the word " outside "
before the word " storage . "
3 . The Chairman suggestethat the review of the revision might be
most expeditiously handlej by a sub - committee of this Board meeting
with such a committee of the Zoning Board of Appeals . The Chairman
was directed to consult the Chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals
to determine its interest in this procedure . Mr . E . Phillips , Mr .
J . Vasse and the Secretary B . Boynton are constituted as a Zoning
Sub - Committee for the Planning Board to work with the Board of Zoning
Appeals in the detailed review of the proposed. revision .
4 . Building Code Resolution. It was moved by Phillips and seconded
by Vasse that Chairman Watson again urge the Town Board to consider
the adoption of a performance Building Code for the Town of Ithaca .
Carried unanimously .
5 . Resolution on Water and Sewer - The Planning Board recognizes the
recent action of -the Board of Public Works and the Common Council of
the City of Ithaca in agreeing. to . provide water and receive sewage from
districts established within the Town of Ithaca as a powerful stimulus
for effective area planning which will result in mutual benefit for
residents of the Town and the City .
The Board further recognizes that the newly initiated policy is a
direct result or extended and agressive action on the part of Supervisor
Gordon to secure cooperation of the City in solving a regional problem
stemming from the peculiar topography of the Ithaca area . The Board ,
therefore , wishes to commend the Supervisor and the Town Board for its
persistence in pressing the matter to a successful conclusion . Carried
unanimously .
6 . Meeting adjourned at 10 : 10 p . m . Next meeting will be held March 4
at 8 p . m . at Town :Barns .

The Planning Board offered the following resolution and
moved its adoption :
RESOLVED , that the Planning Board recog -
nizes the recent action of the Board of
Public Works and the Common Council of
the City of Ithaca , in agreeing to pro -
vide water to and receive sewage from
districts established within the Town of
Ithaca , as a powerful stimulus for effect .

Mr . Phillips coffered the following resolution and moved its
adoption .
RESOLVED , that the Town Board is again urged to
con ;3) ider the adoption of a performance Building
Code .
Seconded by Mr . Vasse . Unanimously carried .
