HomeMy WebLinkAboutPB Minutes 1958-10-15 4 � TOWN OF - •ITHACA PLANNING BOARD MEETING , OCTOBER 152 195$ This was abjoint meeting with the Zoning Board of Appeals . Present : Watson , Phillips , Liguori , Rolston , Fogelsanger and Cook . Mr . Funk of the Atlantic Refining Company presented a map and rendering , showing the proposed development of the Charles Collins2ro2erty on the corner of Marren and Hanshaw Roads . He stated that there is a real need for services of the type proposed in the community ; and that Atlantic had found in other areas where such developments were built that experience had shown that an early start was more desirable than trying to wait until the exact moment rrhen the community most needed and could best support a commercial center . Mr . Funk said that plans for any development would:aloan toward the Colonial style of architechture and that they would take full cognizance of the type of housing in the neighborhood a nd , blend as well as possible with the area in which the center is built . The present plans do not show the Burgess lot on Warren Road as being a separate part , but included this property in the overall layout . On the question from the floor , it was stated that no change in the Zoning Ordinance can be made without first . holding a public hearing so that all interested parties could express their views, prior to any change . It was agreed that, at the next board meeting , November 5th , the matter would be brought up for definite decision . In the meantime , the parking ratio is to be investigated . The subject of - changing the official meeting place of the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals. to a central location in the City was raised, and Mr . Gordon stated that there was already legislation in process in Albany to allow town boards of the town governments to meet within a city on town business . The Liberman propcsal was discussed and it was stated that Mr . Liberman should present a map showing his proposal . The Building Code information meeting is to be at the Town Board meeting on December 4th . Meeting adjourned until November 5th , at which time , it was hoped, that the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals could meet again . Ben V . Boynton `1 MW 1ai I �
