Y. n December 31, 1970 - 2 - PLANNING BOARD APPOINIMENTS Mrs. Barbara Holcorab, Chairman of the Planning Board, submitted Planning Board recommendations for replacements for Mr. Robert Scannell and for Mr, Samuel Slack. As a replacement for Mr. Scannell they recommended Mr. Maurice Harris of 312 Salem Drive, Ithaca, N. Y. and Road ^Ithaca^^^N^ ' Slack, Mr. John E. Lowe of 136 Snyder Hill Councilman McElwee; seconded by Superv;Lsor Schwan, RESOLVED, that Maurice Harris replace Robert Scannell on the Planning Board and John E. Lowe replace Samuel Slack on the Planning Board, both appointments to be effective January 1, I971, SNOWMOBILES Supervisor Schwan read a communication from the Town Planning Board regarding proposed snowmobile ordinance in which they recommendedthat the Town Board take no action toward enacting a snowmobile ordinance for the Town of Ithaca for'the following reasons; (1) ^e serious ambiguities in the present State enablir^gv legislation raise many questions of liability, and Town responsibility which the Planning Board feels cannot be • adequately answered at this time. (2) The very real problems of enforcement of the,proposed ordinance. December 31> 1970 - 4 - ADDITIONAL AID FOR CROC AND YOUTH BUREAU Motion by Councilman Desch; seconded by Councilman McElwee, RESOLVED, that the Town Supervisor on behalf of the Town Board be authorized to request the New York State Division of Youth to consider the Town's application for additional State Aid by reason of the Town's increased commitment to the Youth Bureau. n j j Unanimously carried. This resolution occasioned a question by Justice Hartsock as to whether^ or not the Town of Ithaca has a representative on the Ithaca Youth Bureau. Supervisor Schwan indicated that the Town should have a representative on the Youth Bureau and that he would look into it. TAX EXEMPT STATUS FOR PORTION OP BELLE SHERMAN PARK IN THE TOWN OF ITHACA The City of Ithaca's request for tsix exempt status for a-portion of Belle Sherman Park situated in the Town of Ithaca was tabled until, , the Town Board could get from the City a precise description of the parcel in question. CAYUGA HEIGHTS FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACT ' Supervisor Schwan; seconded by Councilman Desch, . . - RESOLVED, that Supervisor Schwan sign the proposed fire protection contract with the Village of Cayuga Heights, with the stipula-tion that he check out thevpbints ehui&erated-.by V. Buyoucos, Town Attorney, in his memor^dum of December l8, 1970 to the Town CjLbrk and Roger povocool (and with particular emphasis bn an effort to have included ^ in tne contract a "hold harmless clause." • \ Unanimously carried.
