Tompkins County , New York , held at the Town of *Ithaca Offices-
at 126 East Seneca Street , Ithaca , New York , on the . 17th day of
October , 1975 , at . 5o00 - p . m . , there were

HU14AN SERVICES COALITION
The Supervisor referred to a letter from Ruth R . Petten -
gill ,. Chairman ' of the Human Services Coalition , requesting $ 793
from the Town of Ithaca based on a 1970 population figure of
151620 . Included with the letter was the 1976 Human Services
Coalition Budget and related notes . Mrs . Pettengill said the
Human Services Coalition is an independent , tax supported ( in
that monies received are derived from mL.nicipalities ) . The United
Way also contributes . The Coalition is not an agency of the gov-
ernment , but it is incorporated like a membership corporation un=
der State charter . It does not furnish direct services but its
objective is to assist funders and policy makers in eliminating
duplications of service . It also serves as a consultant . The
Coalition receives no grants nor any funding from the government .
Mrse Pettengill agreed that the Coalition would be happy
to furnish the Board with a report of its ac. tivities at year end
each year if the Town of Ithaca were to make a contribution as
indicated .
A -L . Ley Buyoucos spoke highly of Mrs . Pettengill and
her years of services- with the Family and Children ' s Service and
felt she. would do an excellent job for the Coalition .
Councilman Del. Rosso asked Mrs . Pettengill if she would
furnish further , information on the . activities of the Coalition
to date . . Mrs . . Pettengill said thatMichael J . Martin , Coordinator
for the Coalition would do so . The Supervisor said that when the
additional information is received the Board would make a c?ecisiori :

Town Board Minutes - 2 - October 17 , 1975
STREET LIGHTS AT ENTRANCES OF
DeWTT " AND BOYNTON JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS
By letter dated October 10 , 1975 the Ithaca City School
District requested that the Town of Ithaca provide street light -
ing at the driveway entrances of DeWitt Junior. High School and
Boynton Junior High School , the cost to be shared evenly .
After brief discussion , the Board acted as follows :
RESOLVED , that New York State Electric & Gas Corporation be
authorized to install one pole and one wired overhead 20 , 000
lumen unit at the DeWitt Junior Nigh School entry and two
20 , 000 lumen units on two overhead wired wood poles at the
Boynton Junior Heigh School entry , cost to be shared equally
by the Ithaca City School District and the Town of Ithaca .
Unanimously carried .
P & C FOOD MARKETS SIGN
The Supervisor read a letter from David Norcross request -
ing an increase in their sign size from 136 to 200 square feet
( 64 feet in excess of the number of feet allowed in the Sign
Ordinance ) . The Board felt a hearing ought to be held on this
matter ° Therefore , the following action was taken °
Motion, -by Supervisor Schwan seconded by Councilman McElwee ,
RESOLVED , that the Town Board of the Town of Ithaca shall hold
a public hearing at 5 : 15 p . m . on October 27 , 1975 to consider
the application of P & C Food Markets , Inc . for the erection of a
sign ''on the P &C Food Market at Judd Falls Road which does not com-
ply with Section 7 ( a ) of Local Law ## 1 - 1972 to replace the pres -
ent sign and to consider the legality of the present . sign .
Unanimously carried .
