LOCAL LAW NO. 2 FOR THE YEAR 1983
Local law providing for the increasing of the terms of office of
certain elected public officials of the Town of Newfield to four
(4) years.
BE IT ENACTED as follows:
Section 1. This law shall be known as "Increasing the Terms
of Offices for Certain Public Officials Law" .
Section 2 . The term of the Town Clerk of the Town of New-
field shall be four (4) years effective with the term of Office
beginning January 1, 1984 .
Section 3. The term of the Town Superintendent of Highways

shall be four (4) years effective with the term of office begin=
ning January 1, 1984 .
Section 4 . The term of the Town Supervisor shall be four (4)
years effective with the term of office beginning January 1 , 1984 .
e‹; Section 5 . Severability - If any provision of this local law
or the application thereof to any person or circumstances shall be

c $ f adjudged unconstitutional by any court of competent jurisdiction,
the remainder of this article or the application thereof to other
- .. ( persons and circumstances shall not be affected thereby, and the
c' Town Board hereby declares that it would have enacted this local

Section 6. This law shall take effect upon approval of a

ABSTRACT OF LOCAL LAW NO. 2 FOR 1983
Entitled
"Increasing the Terms of Offices for Certain
Public Officials Law"
Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Newfield, Newfield, New
York on August 10, 1983 and approved by the Town Supervisor after
hearing on August 25, 1983 , to be submited as PROPOSITION NO. 1
and voted upon at the General Election to be held on November 8 ,
1983.
The purpose and effect of the Local Law is to provide for the
increasing of the terms of offices of the Town Supervisor, Town
Superintendent of Highways and Town Clerk from two (2) to four (4)
years effective with the terms of office beginning January 1 , 1984 .
The foregoing abstract, together with a proposition herewith
submitted, isprepared by the Town Clerk of the Town of Newfield,
New York, with the advice of the Town Attorney of the Town of
Newfield, pursuant to Section 25, of the Municipal Home Rule Law
of the State of New York.
