Scenic Resource Inventory.
- The Members reviewed the spreadsheet Carrie built.
- Members were asked to rate the sites 1-characteristic, 2- noteworthy, 3-distinctive. *Not
everyone has voted*.
- The focus was on the lines highlighted green, which meant the site received 11 or more points in
the group tally.
- The Council needs to compile 10-12 sites that we would like to have 360-degree photos taken.
These photos would be taken by an ATV with a camera mounted about 5ft high to mimic what a
person would see. No Trespassing.
- The Council could consider using a drone to photograph more locations, but it may not provide a
realistic view of what someone just driving through town would see. Drone views could be used
to supplement the real views.
- C.J. has budget available with the County that could be used to help with GIs imagery. C.J. will
look into the availability of Sharon with the County.
- There were concerns that rating a point like Myers Park highly would push a site that would
need protecting out of the running.
- The ratings should be based on an average, not on the total votes. Not every point has been
reviewed by every member.
- The members discussed all points that received a high number of votes, and then went back
through to make sure they included all points they considered distinctive.
- After averaging the votes, any points that had an average of 2.5 or higher were reviewed by the
members.
- There are now 20 sites that have been ranked as 'distinctive.'The rest can just be considered
noteworthy and scenic.
- There can be more than 10 sites that are considered distinctive, but all of them may not be
photographed.
- Whether the points get a 1 or a 3,they will be treated equally on the Scenic Resource Inventory.
The ratings will come into play when the overlays are being considered.
- Next Steps:
o All members need to review the points and vote on them.
o Pictures would help in making decisions.
o Robyn is willing to create the write up for the Viewshed Analysis but would need help
from Karen to create the map.
o Present to the Planning Board to see how they would like to see this information
utilized.
o Carrie will send the spreadsheet with the work that was completed at the meeting.
