The Board of Fire Commissioners are very concerned about the limited access . In case of an emergency such as an accident or fire , and that single entry / exit is blocked , be it by the emergency situation itself or fire hose across the roadway , there would be no way for other . emergency vehicles to gain access . We strongly urge you to reconsider this position and to reevaluate present areas where this condition exists . Examples being North Wood Apartments and the Horizions Development . In the best interest of public safety , these and - other similar situations have to be corrected . We can not take responsibility for the public ' s safety if we are unable to respond to or have access to these areas in case of emergency . J Very truly yours ; Earles M . iuedrow Chairman Lansing Board of Fire Commissioners • vav Lansing Fire District • t s P. O. BOX 249 filleiginuansa:1\21 ii 7 LANSING, NEW YORK 14882 ',K mT (607) 533-7733 October 13 , 1987 To : Mr . Alex Cima From : Lansing Board of Fire Commissioners Re : The Horizions Development Dear Mr . Circa , The Board of Fire Commissioners and the Lansing Fire Chiefs have discussed your plans for extension of the Horizions development at length and find only one major problem that exists in the present development , and could exist in the expansion . The major problem that needs to be corrected by the Village of Lansing is that there is only one entrance and exit from the development to a street or major highway . This is of major concern to our Fire District , and in no way can we agree to condone such a situation at this project or any other residential or commercial development . The ability for emergency vehicles to . enter all areas of our town uninhibited 411 is a crucial concern to us and the taxpayers we represent . If there were an emergency or accident at that single entry way and another emergency within your development , we could not get Fire or Emergency Medical equipment into the area . This could result in a major crisis and perhaps mean someones life . We can only approve your plans if it is guaranteed by the Village of Lansing and you that a second entrance /exit will exist on Bush Lane . Your immediate attention is requested as we are very concerned about the situation as it now ' exists at the development . Very ruly yours , G Charles M . Nedrow Chairman Board. Of Fire Commissioners •
