Committee believes the master plan is generally well done and should be
preserved as a guide for future use . Our recommendation is to add a
supplement to the plan to include priority items which , in our opinion ,
face the Town of Lansing in the near future .
The priorities are :
1 . An overall zoning ordinance for the entire town should be written ,
with specific attention to the protection of :
A . Existing Residential
B , Existing Commercial
C . Exisiting Agricultural
With further specific attention to :
A . Future residential and commercial growth with direct
concern to the density issue ( land characteristics )
meaning to identify the areas .
B . Use of public opinion poll preceding zoning issue .
C . USA and/or NYS funding considerations to non - zoned
• communities .

D . Agricultural land which may later be sold for purposes
other than agricultural .
2 . From present plan , address these issues :
A . Lake shore area . Over population & health considerations .
B . Park facilities , present , and future .
C . Commercial & light industry . To encourage but to restrict
( zone ) so as not to interfere with private sector . Establish
South Lansing as center of commercial activity . Traffic
considerations .
D . Water .
E . Salmon Creek area .
3 . Brief section dealing with Village of Lansing
A . What are obligations of the Village to Town ?
B . What are obligations of the Town to Village ?
C . Village growth . A concern to the. town ?
D . Possibly a joint town/village committee , ongoing , to deal
