B , Bement , L , Winter , J . Burke Guest Speaker Paul Komar , NYSEG area representative Invited guests - Bill Stewart , Phillip Munson , George Stevens , Jack Stark . Alsoon the tour , Peg EcElwee , Jim Riley , Sam Baughman . The latter guests were unable to return .. to the Town Hall . lr A special meeting of the Planning Board and invited guests was called to take advantage of the opportunity to viewpresent and future sites for fly-ash disposal and to tour 1 Milliken Station . . Invited to join us were the candidates running for public office listed above . Mr . Paul Komar of NYSEG was our guide who described the various operations and answered questions related to the sites , : Milliken and the proposed Cayuga Station . Following the tour , coffee , cider , and donuts ';were 'served at the Town Hall for all who could return . At that time , Mr . Komar misk answered more questions and gave further information regarding the proposed Cayuga Station . I . Cayuga Station A . Capacity - 850 megawatts B e Stack height . - 650 feet 10 Millikenstack height - 200 feet t 2 . Despite its height , the stack will primarily blend with the environment and appear on ' the :skyline only . under limited circumstances . P, C . Site selection i 1 . $ 80 million save By siting the plant in the heart of the customer service area . r 2 . $30 million is spent siting a plant , D , Fly-ash disposal area 1 . Required to present 2 areas to siting board . They are. : ( a ) on NYSEG land - east of Cayuga Station site ( b ) square of landscbounded by Rte . 34B , ' Fenner Rd . , Davis Rd . and Jerry Smith Rd . 'l 2 . If siting board should choose areab , landowners would be required by law to sell to NYSEG , E . Environmental concerns ' . 1. . Sulfur - acid rain a . NYSEG meets EPA requirements with low- sulfur coal from Kentucky b . desulfurization studies are being made 410 ,4 I . Environmental Concerns - continued 411 2 . Railroad service a . number of cars will double from 50 to 100 b . • improved rail bed will allow train to increase speed from 5 t 20 mph through Ithaca ,. thereby not increasing the time it takes to clear a crossing . 3 . Trucking • a . will resume for Milliken - more economic b . will not be used for Cayuga. Station F . Advantages to Lansing 1 . tax dollars 2 . full - timeemployment for. 70 - 804' people G . Approach At the next meeting , it will be discussed whether or not the PB wishes to a , contact opposition groups such as the Cayuga Lake Conservation group , and the League of Women Voters . b , express itself to the 5 siting board members . The above named book was circulated among members and discussion followed on the possibility of the Town exploring in more detail its historic sites . . B . MOTION : D . Hardie moved to authorizeV . Miller to go to the Town Board revenue sharing meeting , 27 Sept . 1977 , to request $ 3 , 000 to be used to employ some young people to renovate some places of historical interest in the town , and to suggest that they work tivith some older residents who would provide resource `,information on these places , Seconded by .
