Site Hearing - Cayuga Station • Tompkins County Court House • Ithaca , New York 14850 • Mr . Chairman : Senator William T . Smith and I support the proposed Cayuga Fossil Fuel Station . The need to alleviate our pressing energy shortage , the need to stimulate this area ' s economy , the need to expand our tax base and the need to increase job opportunities are obvious and urgent . • This proposed project has had exhaestive studies and the development of extensive data covering every conceivable facet . The results of this substantial effort have identified no fatal defects . The cooperation of the County of Tompkins , the New York State Electric and Gas Corporation and the Finger Lakes Rc -. ion has demonstrated an un- yielding cc : ,aituent to continued environmental and agricultural excellence . This has been coupled with the realism for the need of an expanded energy supply and realization that such a project will immeasurably assist this area ' s economy . After a delay of numerous years the need for a prompt affirmative decision is imperative . • Sincerely yours , Gary A . Lee Member of Assembly William T . Smith Member of Senate •
