focuses on the protection of people . Because a bad
sewage system could contaminate drinking water , the
Health Depart . has the authority to condemn a house .

Periodically we are being approached with questions in the
areaof non- conforming signs . Will you please place on your
Board of Zoning Appeals agenda , at your earliest convenience ,
a request from the Town of Lansing Planning Board for clarifi -
cation of some points regarding signs and this regulation ..
A . If a sign is non - confirming in size and the property changes
hands , thus requiring a new sign :
1 . Can the new sign be equally non - conforming ?
2 . Is a sign permit request required ?
'o If a sigh is non- conforming in size and the present occupant
wishes to change his own sign :

occurs requiring a new sign :

We would appreciate an early answer to the above questions
as well as the rationale developed to reach those answers , in
order that cve on the planning board will be better equipped to
handle requests , complaints , and questions on this matter in

planning board of the tremendous effort on your part that the
maps represent . Jever.- the -less we want you to know that we are
aware and further that we thank you very much for your generosity .
We are 'negotiating at the present time to have your maps
reproduced in order that we can mount them on one of the walls
of the town hall when:a they can be used by all .
