HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-06-10 LANSING PLANNING BOARD 4/0 June 10 , 1974 Present : Mr . Roscoe, Edmondson , Stanton Mr . Roscoe opened the meeting at 8 : 05PM The minutes of April 22 , 1974 and May 13 , 1974 meetings were passed out but deferred to next meeting . The zoning officer , Mr . Stanton , gave the following report : Variances have been granted . to Morse Chain and Security Mutual Variance to John Hicks for barn Variance to Mr . Smith with conditions Mr . Stanton read a letter from Mr . Cook essentially asking permission of the planning board to erect a Toyota sign . The sign would be 25 feet high , 24 feet long , 42 inch letters . This is within the ordinance regulations of 100 squarefeet for auto dealers . Mr . Cook was present and presented his case for erecting sign . For over a year this dealer has been selling Toyotas and 11/ is being harrassed by Toyota to get the sign erected . Discussion by board members : Mr . Roscoe : Could Toyota be added to present sign ? Answer : No . GM put up present sign - - not available to put Toyota on it . TOYOTA Mr . Cook stated that there is at the present time no Toyota dealer SIGN in Elmira or Cortland . • Mr . Roscoe : Everyone coming into Pyramid could want a sign . Mr . Edmondson : Sign seems to be overbearing ( looking at a picture of Toyota sign ) Mr . Roscoe : What if he were fortunate enough to get into Fiat ? Mr . Stanton : This is a problem that will exist will all other dealers . Mr . Roscoe : I am troubled by the fact that we could have any number of these . Mr . Cook : If required to pay taxes , should be given equal rights . Mr . Edmondson : What we will have to have is some sort of recommendation . page 2 41/ Mr . Roscoe : What is our situation ? Goes to . Appeals Board next ? Answer : yes Mr . Roscoe : You can either wait for our next meeting or go to the Appeals Board . Mr . Cook : What will be quicker ? Mr . Edmondson : The Appeals Board will not go ahead without our recommendation . Mr . Roscoe : This request is tabled for quorum of Board for recommendation . II . Marine Midland requested time and temperature sign . Claims hardship . Travelers can ' t see bank . MARINE Unanimous among the three Board Members to deny request for sign . MIDLAND III . Mr . Wurtzel , Algerine Road , needs permit for 4 ' x8 ' sign advertising MR . Mobile Home Park . The sign is setting on might of way . The zoning 11 TZEL ordinance reads that it should be 10 feet back . After some discussion , it was agreed that Mr . Stanton should use his discretion in handling this situation . IV . It is stated in Ordinance that Mobile Homes should have tie downs TIE on four corners . Is it unreasonable ? DOWNS Both Roscoe and Edmondson answered : no . Discussion Mr . Edmondson : Health safety . Tie downs are cheaper than anchoring . Mr . Stanton : Thought there might be a possibility of taking this out but maybe should leave it in . Then proceeded to read section of ordinance pertaining to this rule . Mr . Edmondson : Think we ought to keep it in . Mr . Roscoe : Yes . Mr . Stanton : This would include any expansion of Mobile Home Parks ? Answer : yes . V . Mr . Ward visited Mr . Stanton and is looking into possibility of MEWARD purchasing Brook Homes Mibile Park . He was presented with ordinance rules and could see no reason why he should not proceed with his plans . Mr . Edmondson : How many units ? Mr . Stanton : Wants to expand . Double park . Mr . Ward It was agreed he/ should present his plans at the July Planning Board Meeting . Meeting adjourned 9 : 15PM
