The Chairman called the meeting to order at 8 : 15 p .m .
Minutes of the meetings of November. 13 and November 27 , 1967 , were
presented and voted on separately . MOTIONS to accept by Mr .
Ettinger , seconded , and carried .
It was the sense of the Board that copies of the minutes of the
joint meeting of November 27 should be sent to the membership of
the Town Board .
Reports by members :
MILLER The Planning Council had a meeting last week , and more of the PLANNING
surveys were brought in . Immediately following Christmas COUNCIL
someone will be working to contact the people who may have
been missed according to a list now being compiled . Ninety
percent of the surveys have come in and are now being pre -
pared for data processing . They are being coded and the
information is being key-punched this week . The program is
being written by Mr . Seymour Smidt , who will be put in touch
with Mr . Niederkorn so that the information can be pulled out
in workable form. The next step beyond running totals on the
stats is to meet with Mr . Niederkorn and anyone else who
would be interested in this project , and Mr . Smidt will also
go hack to the various chairmen of studies on the Planning
Council and work up studies on such things as population and
occupation . The cards will be stored by Mr . Smidt .
SHOWACRE The Chairman reminded members again that if there are any FINANCES
expenses for which there should be reimbursement , the
relevant vouchers should be in the hands of the Town Board
by December 19 , which will be the final audit date for
vouchers to be paid from the budget for this current year .
ETTINGER Suggested that an addressograph machine and plates be pure* EQUIPMENT
chansed by the Planning Board , sharing the cost with the
United Fund and the Lansing Fire Board , inasmuch as a machine

• of this sort is urgently- needed and it does not seem as if the
Town Board will be able to purchase one . The individual thirds
for such a shared purchase would amount to approximately $ 85 . 00
and the machine could be kept in the Town Hall - an arrangement
which would be satisfactory to the Fire Board . The Board directed
Mr . Ettinger to investigate the matter further and to report back
on it at the January meeting . It was recognized that it is pos »
sible , however , that the Town Board may see the need of this and
make the purchase themselves .
EDMONDSON There is good potential for county planning , and the University 701 PROGRAM
is moving very rapidly toward leadership in regional planning .
Apparently the Greater Ithaca Regional Planning Board will be
abolished . County planning will be to the advantage of the
Lansing Town Planning Board , as Lansing will receive its share
of the funds which will be allotted to the Regional Planning
Council for various studies . The Regional Planning Board draws
its leadership from the highest levels , and Lansing will be one
part of the large region in which this Regional Planning Board
is working . As Lansing goes into 701 , it will be in a position
to at least participate , but is not ready for this participa-
tion at the present time .
SHOWACRE The transmittal letters to be sent in accordance with Mr . Drogin ' s
request are at hand . The material still to be gathered from the
• Town Clerk will be obtained and the duplicating will be done by
Mr . Ettinger on his own office equipment . The Town Board still
must supply the resolution indicating that the Town of Lansing
will pay one »sixth of the total cost . The Chairman will make a
special effort to see that this resolution is passed at the next
meeting of the Town Board and that the letter is drafted and sub »
sequently signed by Mr . Dates . This will then complete the ap -
plication material .
ETTINGER The new trailer park on the Cayuga County-Tompkins County line SUBDIVISION
is being built by Mr . Robert J . Woods of the Schwann Trailer REGULATIONS
Park. Mr . Woods filed a letter and a hand -drawn map with the
Town Board , and has received their approval . This material is
available for Town Planning Board use . Although Mr . Woods
originally indicated that there would be only four trailers , his
drawing showed six , with space for additional trailers .
Robert Gibbs has put in a new road on the north side of Cayuga
Motors . This is a dead-end road which according to current in-
formation the Town is not going to offer to take over . It is
rumored that Ridley ' s Bindery , Ithaca Imports , and Bill Cooke
Cadillac are intending to locate on North Triphammer Road . This
road is becoming less and less adequate as more and more firms
locate across from each other on it . The situation with respect
to cars pulling out of the driveways is alarming even now .
• Apparently there is no protection for the residents against

41111 this influx of commercial establishments . The danger to the
health , safety , and welfare of the people must be proved to
the County in order to force it to do some planning in cone,
nection with North Triphammer Road .
The Board decided that Mr . Niederkorn should be asked to pre -
pare a draft of subdivision regulations and submit a bill there-
for which can be paid in advance from the present year ' s budget .
The list of names of suggested replacements for Mr . Ley had been REPLACEMENT
given to Mr . Dates , but to date the Town Board has done nothing FOR
about the matter . It was the sense of the Planning Board that
a letter should be written to the Town Board requesting that HERBERT LEY
someone be named for the replacement .
On MOTION of Mr . Edmondson , seconded and carried , the meeting
was adjourned at 9 : 40 p .m.
