Good evening, my name.is Sue Ruoff. Tonight l am speaking
as part of the leadership team of,Concerned Citizens of
Lansing: We have been working with many community
members over the last several months to develop an advisory
committee to support the Cayuga Operating Company's
transition to a data center. We have organized a wonderful,
diverse group of individuals willing and committed to
participating on this advisory committee: °We have given you
copies of the proposed Town Resolution for your
consideration as well as the proposed members of the
committee. I'd just like'to highlight the purpose and specific
tasks of the committee written in the Resolution:
1 . Promote transparency through effective communication
between the Cayuga Operating Company, Lansing Town
Board, the Lansing Advisory Committee, New York State
authorities, other interested organizations, and the public.
2_ Provide public engagement and outreach opportunities
by holding regular open Lansing Advisory Committee
meetings and through other means of communication.
3. Explore possibilities and propose solutions to issues
associated with or affected by the transition, including but
not limited to, current employee severance packages
and/or retraining/reassignments, economic and
environmental impacts on the Town of Lansing and
Tompkins County, environmental cleanup and monitoring,
and reuse and/or decommissioning of the power plant
property.
4. Support Cayuga Operating Company in its seeking of..:
state. funds and/or other incentives to. ensure the power
plant transition, .if'.in the best interest. of:the: Lansing:
community.
We appreciate,your consideration of the formation of this
Lansing Advisory Committee and applaud your support of
community, involv..ement i,n this.:project.:We,hope. you will
approve this resolution at your next board; meeting. on
November 20.
