HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-12-1316 4 December 13, 2000 The Lansing Town Board met in Special Session at the Lansing Town Hall Board Room at 7:00 p.m. with Supervisor Farkas presiding. The Supervisor called the meeting to order and took the Roll Call. RESOLUTION, offered by Mr. Beckwith and seconded by Mr. Shattuck: WHEREAS, the Town of Lansing has received a request from the Franziska Racker Centers of its intent to establish a residential group home for developmentally disabled people at 3053 North Triphammer Road in the Town of Lansing: and WHEREAS, pursuant to the New York State Mental Hygiene Law, the Town may propose alternate sites within the Town for location of a group home, or consider the issues of whether the establishment of a group home at this location would result in a concentration of group homes such that it alters the character or nature of the neighborhood and community; and WHEREAS, the Town Board has received inquiries from neighbors concerning the proposal, and after having discussed the letter of intent from the Franziska Racker Centers; therefore, it is hereby RESOLVED, that the Town of Lansing Town Board hereby schedules a public hearing on January 3rd, 2001, at 7:45 p.m., to receive public comment on the proposal by the Franziska Racker Center on the issues of alternate sites, the affect of the proposed use on the character and nature of the neighborhood and community, and to give the Franziska Racker Centers an opportunity to present information on how group homes operate and to answer questions from the community about the proposal.
