RESOLUTION, offered by Mr. Beckwith and seconded by Mr. Shattuck:
WHEREAS, the Town of Lansing has received a request from the Franziska Racker
Centers of its intent to establish a residential group home for developmentally disabled people at
3053 North Triphammer Road in the Town of Lansing: and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the New York State Mental Hygiene Law, the Town may
propose alternate sites within the Town for location of a group home, or consider the issues of
whether the establishment of a group home at this location would result in a concentration of
group homes such that it alters the character or nature of the neighborhood and community; and
WHEREAS, the Town Board has received inquiries from neighbors concerning the
proposal, and after having discussed the letter of intent from the Franziska Racker Centers;
therefore, it is hereby
RESOLVED, that the Town of Lansing Town Board hereby schedules a public hearing
on January 3rd, 2001, at 7:45 p.m., to receive public comment on the proposal by the Franziska
Racker Center on the issues of alternate sites, the affect of the proposed use on the character and
nature of the neighborhood and community, and to give the Franziska Racker Centers an
opportunity to present information on how group homes operate and to answer questions from
