The survey on the proposed Town Hall project was discussed.
It was the opinion of the Board that citizens believe we need a new
Town Hall which should be smaller than originally planned and built
at a lower cost. It was also the Board's opinion that it really did
not matter which side of the road (Rt. 34B) the new Town Hall
should be built on. The Board Members came up with a plan for a
smaller Town Hall that would cost less and be built on the north
side of 34B.
Mr. John discussed the situation in Myers (behind David
Norman's house) with the Board. The Tompkins County Assessment
Department claims the Town of Lansing owns this piece of land but
Mr. John stated he can not find any written evidence showing that
the Town owns this parcel. Mr. John will research this matter
further and report back to the Board on March 20, 1996.
Discussion was held on the Jay Orear subdivision regarding
it's original approval and as to whether or not public water could
be placed on it. Rich John will research this matter further.
Mr. Tvaroha discussed with the Board, Cheryl Nicholls request
to proceed with the
grant project
on the
present Town Hall area and
that she would need
a topography
study
done. It was the consensus
to allow up to $
800.00 to be
spent
on this project and the
following
resolution
was offered:
RESOLUTION, offered by Mr. Tvaroha and seconded by Mr.
Beckwith:
WHEREAS, through a grant from New York Council on the Arts,
the Town of Lansing has prepared a preliminary design for a Town
Common using the area of the present Town Hall, the Grange building
and the Old Schoolhouse to create a park area; and
WHEREAS, in preparing the development phase of the project, it
is necessary to perform topographic engineering work on the site,
therefore, it is
RESOLVED, that the Town Board authorizes the expenditure of up
to $ 800.00 by the Town Engineer to perform topographic engineering
work in connection with the development phase of the Town Common
project.
