DECEMBER 19 , 1989
The Lansing Town Board met for the purpose of holding a Public Hearing on the
proposed Community Center at the Lansing High School at 7 : 00 P . M . with Supervisor
K irby presiding .

The Supervisor called the meeting to order having the clerk take the Roll Call .

P roof of Notice having been furnished by the Town Clerk , the Public Hearing
on the proposed COMMUNITY CENTER AND SKATING RINK was called to order by
Supervisor Kirby at 7 : 00 P . M .
J effrey Cleveland introduced Andy Sciarabba , David Taube , Louise Bement ,
Andy Lavigne , Sharon Bowman , George Totman , Steve Colt and Richard John , allT -o. f7.
whomspoke on different aspects of the proposed Community Center . The Hearing
was then open to questions and answers. The main concerns were as follows :
- traffic problems
- final cost to the tax payers
- Lansing people having a vote
- Public relations concerning the advertising of the Public Hearing
Many people present seemed to be in favor of the project at this stage .
With about 35 people left in the room , Supervisor Kirby asked for a straw
vote in which 27 people were in favor of it and 5 were against it .
It was decided that the Town Board would hold another Public Hearing and / or
bring the project to a public referendum .
On motion , meeting was adjourned at the call of the Supervisor at 9 : 35 P . M .
