HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978-05-2314 May 23, 1978 The Lansing Town Board met in an Adjourned Meeting on May 23, 1978 at 8:00.P.M. to conduct a Public Hearing to consider the merits of obtaining a Doctor to be located adjacent to the Town Hall and to conduct and act on any other business that may come before said board. Philip Munson Bert Hilliard Margaret McElwee Lee Naegely George Stevens Robert Williamson Jane Bush Horky ROLL CALL Supervisor Present Councilman Present Councilwoman Present Councilman Present Councilman Present Town Attorney Present Town Clerk Present Visitors: Chairman of Lansing Parks Commission, Eric Trotter, Recreation Director, William Robinson, Jr. The Supervisor called the meeting to order having the clerk take the Roll Call. 16 Proof of Notice having been furnished by the Clerk, the Public Hearing to consider the merits of obtaining a Doctor to be located adjacent to the Town Hall was called to order by the Supervisor,.at 8:00 P.M., as advertised in the Ithaca Journal and posted according to law. All persons desiring to be heard, having been heard, and no objections made-to obtaining a Doctor to be located adjacent to the Town Hall, the Hearing was terminated at 8:10 P.M. . RESOLUTION offered by Mr. Hilliard, who moved its adoption, seconded by Mr. Stevens: WHEREAS, Arlene K. Varga has been certified as Part -time Clerk for the Town Clerk's Office, and WHEREAS, said Arlene K. Varga works sufficient hours to be eligible for Health Insurance, Retirement and Social Security benefits, now therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized and directed to pay the salaries of Arlene K. Varga prior to the monthly audit of the Town Board, effective immediately, subject hereby to said payment being audited by the Town Board at the Regular monthly meeting, and be it further RESOLVED, that said procedure continue until recinded by the Town Board. (Aye) Philip Munson, Supervisor Town Attorney Williamson advised the board members that the Lansing Fire Commissioners had advertised Notice of a Special Election to be held on June 5, 1978 for the purpose of voting on- -the adoption or rejection of the following Resolution: "SALE OF LANSING FIRE DISTRICT PROPERTY NO LONGER NEEDED FOR PUBLIC USE." Mr. Williamson stated that the Town Hall in Ludlowville and the Fire Building at South Lansing had never been conveyed to the Fire District by the Town. The board members discussed the above mentioned two parcels. No action taken. Eric Trotter, Chairman of the Lansing Parks Commission, reviewed the Project Application that he had completed to apply for financial assistance under the Outdoor Recreation Development Act. Said project for improvements at the Lansing Town Park at Myers. Supervisor Munson reported on the Agricultural District Meeting held • on May 22nd. The meeting concerned the new tax assessment being received after May 1st, which is the deadline for applying for special agricultural assessment. The proposed Town of Lansing Agriculture District No. 7 as prepared by the Tompkins County Planning Department, was again discussed by the board. Following resolution offered. RESOLUTION offered by Mrs. McElwee, who moved its adoption, seconded by Mr. Stevens: RESOLVED, that the Lansing Town Board would support the proposed Agriculture District No. 7, Town of Lansing, with the provision of a 450' set -back from North Triphammer Road. (Aye) Philip Munson, Supervisor (continued) U Ell Continued May 23, 1978 RESOLUTION offered by Mr. Stevens, who moved its adoption, seconded by Mr. Naegely: RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Lansing will hold a Public Hearing on June 13, 1978 at 8:00 P.M. to consider the merits of obtaining a Doctor to be located adjacent to the Town Hall. Carried RESOLUTION offered by Mr. Stevens, who moved its adoption, seconded by Mr. Hilliard: RESOLVED, that the Town of Lansing Town Board request the Tompkins County Personnel Department to create five additional Recreational Activity Specialist positions and four additional Recreational Attendant positions: Unanimously carried Supervisor Munson and Councilman George Stevens reported on the Economic Development Conference which they attended in Elmira, New York. Councilman George Stevens reported on the Tompkins County Environmental Management Council Meeting and SEAR. Visitors: Deputy Clerk Wanda Brink, Zoning Officer Norman Stanton, Water Supt. James Howell, Kevin H. Rorke, Reporters Jennifer Romm and Paul Parr, The Supervisor called the meeting to order having the Clerk take the Roll Call. Proof of Notice having been furnished by the Clerk, the Public Hearing to consider the merits of obtaining a Doctor to be located adjacent to the Town Hall was called to order by the Supervisor at 8:00 P.M., as advertised in the Ithaca Journal and posted according to law. All persons desiring to made to obtaining a Doctor to was terminated at 8:20 P.M. . A copy of the minutes of the members of the town board propose corrections of errors be heard, having been heard, and no objections be located adjacent to the Town Hall, the Hearing May 9th and 23rd, 1978 having been furnished to beforehand, the Supervisor asked for a motion to or to accept same as submitted. RESOLUTION offered by Mrs. McElwee, seconded by Mr. Stevens, that the minutes as submitted by the clerk be approved. Carried Highway Superintendent Sharpsteen reviewed machinery and road conditions in the town. (continued) L
