HomeMy WebLinkAbout1974-10-16Continued October 8, 1974 .Gerald Talandis, Member of Lansing Water and Sewer Advisory Committee, gave a presentation'of'the committee's recommendations of budgets and rates for the Lansing Water and Sewer Districts, Supervisor McDermott presented his monthly report and reviewed same. AUDIT RESOLUTION offered by Mr. Hilliard and seconded by Mr. LaVigne:. RESOLVED, that General Fund bills #283 through #;314 totalling $ 7,703.72 and Highway Fund bills #216 through # 233 totalling $19,903.12 be and the same are hereby approved for payment, and be it further s:x-; RESOLVED, that Water District #1, Water District #2, Sewer District #1 and `Sewer District #2 bills be and the same are hereby approved for payment. Carried Meeting adjourned to October 14, 1974 at 8. P.M. to work on preliminary budgets. October 14, 1974 The Lansing Town Board met in an Adjourned Meeting as called at the meeting of October 8, 1974. Said meeting called at 8 P.M. to work on the preliminary budets for the year 1975. Considerable study was made of the estimates filed in regard to the 1975 budget. The Supervisor called the meeting to order at 8 P.M. having the clerk take the roll call. Councilmen Edward LaVigne and Lee Naegely recommended the name of James C. Preston be acted upon by the board'to fill the unexpired term of Suzanne Lorbeer, to serve as a Member of the Lansing Zoning Board of Appeals. Discussion by the board, following resolution offered: RESOLUTION offered by Mr. Hilliard, seconded by Mr. Naegely: RESOLVED, that James C. Preston, 1133 Warren Road, be appointed as a Member of the Lansing Board of Zoning Appeals to fill the unexpired term of Suzanne Lorbeer. WHEREAS, said amendments have been presented to the Board, now therefore be it RESOLVED, that this Board hold.a Public Hearing on said proposed amendments in the Town Hall on the 29th day of October 1974 at 8:00 P.M. in the evening thereof. (Aye) Wesley McDermott, Supervisor Carried Councilman Lee Naegely reported that there would be a meeting of the County Sewer Agency to be held at the Tompkins County Planning Office at 4 P.M. on the 31st of October. Said meeting concerning the report of O'Brien & Gere and any other business that may come before said Agency. Councilman Naegely stated that he was still concerned in regard to the lighting at the Rte. 13 construction area, and will check with the Electric & Gas Co. on the cost of a light or lights for said area. Supervisor declared a recess at 8:40 P.M., business resumed at 8 :55 P.M. Supervisor McDermott announced to the board that the budget for the next ensuing year must be completed at this time. Considerable budget study was made and figures compiled. Following the completion of the preliminary budget it was ready for adoption and the date of the hearing set thereon. RESOLUTION offered by Mr. Hilliard: RESOLVED, that this Town Board does hereby prepare and approve as the preliminary budget of this Town for the fiscal.year beginning on the lst day of January 1975, the itemized statement of estimated revenues and expenditures hereto attached and made a part of this resolution, and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that such of the Town Clerk where it shall persons at all reasonable hours, FURTHER RESOLVED, that this of November 1974, for the purpos budget, and be it preliminary be availabl and be it Board shall e of holding budget shall be filed in the office e for inspection by any interested meet at 8:00 P.M. on the 6th day a public hearing upon such preliminary FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk give notice of such public hearing in the manner provided in Section 108 of the Town Law, and that such notice be published and posted in substantially the following form: NOTICE OF HEARING UPON PRELIMINARY BUDGET FOR TOWN OF LANSING FOR YEAR 1975 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the preliminary budget of the Town of Lansing, Tompkins County, New York for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 1975, has been completed and filed in the office of the Town Clerk of said Town at Lansing in said Town, where it is available for inspection of any interested person at all reasonable hours, FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town Board of said Town of Lansing will meet and review said preliminary budget and hold a public hearing thereon at 8:00 P.M. on the 6th day of November 1974, and that at such hearing any person may be heard in favor of or against the preliminary budget as compiled or for or against any item or items therein contained. Continued October 16, 1974 RESOLUTION offered by Mr. LaVigne: WHEREAS, the assessment rolls for the Lansing Water District #1, Lansing Water District #2, Lansing Sewer District #1, Lansing Sewer District #2 and Catherwood Light District have been completed and have been filed with the Town Clerk, now therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Town Board hold a Public Hearing on said assessment rolls on the 6th day of November 1974 at 8:30 P.M. in the evening thereof, then, and there to meet, hear and consider any objections which may be made to the rolls, and be it further RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk publish notice of completion of the rolls pursuant to Section 239 of the Town Law. Freeman, Esq., upon recommendation of the Chairman of the Lansing Board of Zoning Appeals, be retained to represent the said Zoning Board of Appeals in the matters of Pyramid Companies VS John C. Barney, et al, presently pending before the Tompkins County Supreme Court and the matter of Pyramid Companies VS John C. Barney etal, presently pending before the Supreme Court, Appellate Div- ision, Third Department, to be paid a rate not to exceed $50.00 per hour with a maximum amount not to exceed $750.00 without further expenditure absent without Town Board approval.
