Seconded by Mr. LaVigne, 8, 1971 to serve as a Member of Carried Lengthy discussion held by the board in regard to sewer service for the newly constructed Holiday Inn. RESOLUTION offered by Mr. LaVigne. RESOLVED that Catherine Christopher, R.D. #1, Triphammer Terrace and Betty LaBar, R.D. #1, Hillcrest Rd., be appointed Democratic Alternate Inspectors for District No. 5. Seconded by Mr. Bush. (Aye) Charles Howell, Supervisor Carried Letter read from the Area Beautification Council of Tompkins Co. requesting the appointment of a representative from Lansing to serve on the Council. No action taken at this time. Supervisor Howell reported that Highway Supt. Donald Sharpsteen had been honored by the State Highway Superintendent's Association for twenty years of continuous service in Tompkins County, Mr. Sharp- steen was nominated to be president of the Association but declined the nomination. Town Clerk presented detailed budget estimates to the Town Board. The Supervisor presented his monthly statement and explained same in detail. AUDIT RESOLUTION by Mr. LaVigne: RESOLVED that General Fund bills #263 through #287 totalling $ 5,166.86 and Highway Fund bills #209 through #231 totalling $12,841.58 be and the same are hereby approved for payment, and be it further RESOLVED that Water District #1 and Water District #2 bills be and the same are hereby approved for payment. October 12, 1971 The Lansing Town Board met in an adjourned meeting at 8 P.M. as called by the Supervisor at the adjournment of the Regular Meeting held on October 8, 1971. The Supervisor called the meeting to order at 8 P.M. having the clerk take the roll call. Supervisor Howell announced to the board that the budget for the next ensuing year must be completed at this time. Considerable budget study was made and figures compiled. Following the comple- tion of the preliminary budget it was ready for adoption and the date of hearing set thereon. (continued) a 40 Continued October 12, 1971 17 2 RESOLUTION offered by Mr. Hilliard: e� RESOLVED, that this Town Board does hereby prepare and approve as the preliminary budget of this Town for the fiscal year beginning on the lst day of January 1972, the itemized statement of estimated revenues and expenditures hereto attached and made a part of this resolution, and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that such preliminary budget shall be filed in the office of the Town Clerk where it shall be available for inspection by any interested persons at all reasonable hours, and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Board shall meet at 8:15 P.M. on the 4th day of November 1971, for the purpose of holding a public hearing upon such preliminary budget, and be it FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk give notice of such public hearing in the manner provided in Section 108 of the Town Law, and that such notice be published and posted in substantially the following form NOTICE OF HEARING UPON PRELIMINARY BUDGET FOR TOWN OF LANSING FOR YEAR 1971 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the preliminary budget of the Town of Lansing, Tompkins County, New York for the fiscal year,beginning January 1, 1972, has been completed and filed in the office of the Town Clerk of said Town at South Lansing in said Town, where it is available for inspection of any interested person at all reasonable hours, FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town Board of said Town of Lansing will meet and review said preliminary budget and hold a public hearing thereon at 8:15 P.M. on the 4th day of November 1971, and that at such hearing any person may be heard in favor of or against the preliminary budget as compiled or for or against any item or items therein contained. RESOLUTION offered by Mr. Naege ly : WHEREAS, the assessment rolls for Lansing Water District #1, Lansing Water District #2, Lansing Sewer District #1, Lansing Sewer District #2 and Catherwood Light District have been completed and have been filed with the Town Clerk, now therefore be it Alk RESOLVED, that the Town Board hold a Public Hearing on said assessment rolls on the 4th day of November 1971 at 9 P.M. in the evening thereof, then, and there to meet, hear and consider any objections which may be made to the rolls, and be it further RESOLVED, that the Town Clerk publish notice of completion of the rolls pursuant to Section 239 of the Town Law. Tow�l�Tn 9 � — � :October 13;1911 r� November 4, 1971 The Lansing Town Board met in Special Session on November 4, 1971 at 8:15 P.M. with Supervisor Charles Howell presiding, to conduct' a Public Hearing on the Preliminary Budget for the year 1972, Public Hearing on Special Districts and any other business that may come before said Board. Said meeting set as per meeting of October 12, 1971. James Howell and five Lansing Residents. The Supervisor called the meeting to order at 8 :15 P.M. having the clerk take the roll calls Proof of Notice having been furnished, the Supervisor advised the Board that the Public Hearing was now open on the preliminary budget as called by the Town Board and so advertised in the Ithaca Journal and posted according to Town Law 108. The Supervisor presented each person present, a copy of the General and Highway Fund Preliminary Budget and a copy of the Maintenance & Operating Budgets for Water District #1 and Water District #2. Each item of the budgets was gone over and discussed in detail. William Gettig suggested that the Board investigate the possibility of setting up a Capitol Machinery Fund for the purchase of new machinery when compiling the 1973'budgeto All persons desiring to be heard, having been heard, and no objections made to the said preliminary budgets, the Hearing was terminated.
