HomeMy WebLinkAbout1968-06-27continued June 12, 1968 The following resolution was offered by Mr. Howell: WHEREAS, the Tompkins County Health Department has approved a plan for extension of sewers to the Chateau Clair Apartment area, now therefore be it RESOLVED that same are approved. by the Town of Lansing, subject however, to the approval of the plan for same by the Engineer of Cayuga Heights, and be it further RESOLVED that the Town Clerk forward certified copies of said resolution to Harry Hamilton, Attorney for Chateau Clair Apartments and the Clerk of the Village of Cayuga Heights. Seconded by Mr. Ferris, Carried Supervisor. Dates presented his monthly report and explained same in detail. • AUDTT RESOLUTION by Mr. Howell and seconded by Mr. Ferris: RESOLVED that General Fund bills #117 thru 165 totalling $ 11,445.86and ?iighwa1r Fund bills °4150 thru #168 totalling $1.2,193.19 be and the same are hereby approved for payment. Absent Fred Spry, Justice Vote of Town Board (Aye) Harris Dates, Supervisor Carried Meeting adjourned 10:30 P -Me June 27, 1968 The Lansing Town Board and the Lansing Town Planning Board met in Special Session on June 27, 1968 at the LansingTown Hall at 8 P.M. to ccnduct a Public Hearing on u Proposed Ordinance relating to Subdivision Rules and Regulations for the Town of Lansing. Town Board Members Present Harris Dates, Supervisor Charles Howell, Councilman Fred Spry, Justice Jane Bush, Clerk Robert Williamson, Atty, Planning Board Members Present James Showacre, Viola Miller Bernard Ruzicka Fred Edmondson Alex Cima Chairman Visitors: Reporter Patricia Nordheimer, approximately 37 persons. Supervisor Dates opened the Public Hearing at 8 P.M. and requested the Clerk to read the Proof of Notice. Mr. Dates introduced. Thomas Niederkorn, Planning Consultant, who assisted in preparing the Technical Basis for the Subdivision Rules and Regulations for the Town of Lansing. Mr. Niederkorn read and defined all Articles which had been compiled in preparing the technical basis for the Subdivision Rules and Regulations. During the discussion period, the following persons suggested modifications to the Proposed Ordinance in question: Gordon Selden, James Cirona, Roger Sovocool, Louise Dart, Dr. C.E. DeCamp, Cushing Murray, Dr. T,Znran Fisher and Robert Conlon. Modifications suggested were: (1) Change the regulations defining a subdivision which would result in undue burdens on sellers of property and the Planning Board. (2) Broaden definition of minor subdivision procedure. (3) Change definition of "Existing subdivision ", to be more specific. (4) Requirements for planting a tree in the front yard area was critized and requested to be deleted from the ordinance. (5) Regulations relating to curbs, gutters and sidewalks 'should be more positive. (COHTT HUED ) 142 (6) Ordinance to include information regarding Tompkins County Health standards. James Cirona complimented the Planning Board on a job well done. All persons desiring to be heard, having been heard, the Hearing was terminated at 10:15 P.M. Carried Mr. Robert Mack spoke to the board in regard to the Myers Road from Route 34B to the Town Park. The road is badly in need of repair and has become worse since the installation of water lines by the contractor. Supervisor Dates explained that the road is a county road and. Co. Hwy. Supt. Stevenson had promised to try and have it fired before July 4th but has had no word since that time. Lansing Highway Superintendent Sharpsteen will contact Mr. Stevenson and report back to the board on the County plans for said road. Clerk read letter from Robert E. Congdon, Instructor of Driver LA Traffic Safety Education, thanking Justice Spry for the excellent presentation made to the Ithaca College Driver Educatibn Instructors group held at Ithaca College, Justice Ferris reported that a man had been hired as of June 24, 1968 at $2.00 per day to push the refuse-over the embankment once a day at the Town Dump. Clerk asked to check with Town Atty. Williamson on legality-of compensation. Justice Ferris has received complaints regarding the sluice -ways causing trouble at Lansing Station. Persons residing there feel a ditch by the creek is needed. Highway Supt. Sharpsteen advised that permission would have to-be granted from the R.R. Co, before he could proceed with any stork there.. Mr. Ferris also stated that a request had been made by Giles Nichols to have the brush trimmed on the left side of his house. Water Supt. Howell stated that the water line installations and-connections on Cayuga Heights Rd. and Oakerest Rd, are nearing completion and the area should begin receiving service by August 1st. . Board discussed Lansing Sewer District #2 in relation to the Catherwood Subdivision, Highway Superintendent Sharpsteen informed the Board that they had started digging the trench for the new garage. Also stated that it was taking one man approxinatel'y four days of each week to keep the lawns mowed. Spoke of roads that needed blacktopping but questioned whether the budget would cover it. Letter received and read•from Gerald Talandis stating his suggestions on proposed Subdivision Regulations. (continued) • 1
