The Lansing Town Board met in regular session at the Lansing Town Hall on
January 9, 1968 at 8 P.M. Meeting scheduled for 8:15 P.M. to consider Petition
for the establishment of a Lighting District.

The Supervisor called the meeting to order at•8.P.M. having the clerk take the
roll call.

Mr. Talandis was introduced and presented to the board, a rough draft of a
proposed site plan for approximately 180 homes which he hopes to begin work on in
the spring. Said. site consists of approximately 50 acres which is a portion of the
Votopka farm, all of which is within the Water District and Proposed Sewer Dist. #2.
Following the Town Board's inspection of the contemplated subdivision, they requested
Mr. Talandis to submit his proposal to the Lansing Planning Board for their examination.
Proof of Notice having been furnished, the meeting to consider the Petition for
the Establishment of a. Lighting District in-the Town of Lansing was called to order
at 8:15 P.M. Town Attorney Williamson explained in detail the boundaries of said
lighting district, the expense of the establishment and financing of same. Following
discussion by the Board, and no persons spoke against the formation:of the district,
the Hearing was terminated at 8:40 P.M.
RESOLUTION by Mr. Spry and seconded by Mr. Ferris:
RESOLVED that the Supervisor be authorized and directed to have the Town records
and Justice records audited by Maxfield, Randolph and Carpenter and file his report
under (Town Law 181 (3)0

MOTION by Mr. Ferris and seconded by Mr. Spry, that the bonds of public officials
be approved as to the amount and company.

APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN OF ASSESSORS:
MOTION by Mr. Spry and seconded by Mr. Ferris that Kenneth A. Tarbell be
appointed Chairman of Assessors for 1968.

APPOINTMENT OF CONSTABLES:
MOTION by Mr. Spry and seconded by Mr. Ferris that Delford Barnes and Paul
Mikula be appointed Constables for 1968.

MULTIPLE HOUSEING INSPECTOR:
MOTION by Mr. Spry and seconded. by Mr. Ferris that Kenneth A. Tarbell be appointed

FIRE WARDENS:
The Supervisor appointed the four Fire Chiefs of the Tovm of Lansing as
Fire 'Jardens.

ATTORNEY FOR THE TOWN:
MOTION by Mr. Ferris and seconded by Mr. Spry that Attorney for the Town be on
as a needed basis and that Robert Williamson be consulted as needed.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be authorized to pay the above*

salaries to be adjusted to meet budget requirements.

RESOLUTION by Mr. Ferris and seconded by Mr. Spry that the Town Officers and High.
Superintendent be allowed the sum of 100 per mile for the use of their automobiles
in the performance of their official duties,

RESOLUTION by Mr. Ferris and seconded by Mr. Spry that the Tompkins County
Trust Co, and the First National Bank be designated as the depositories for the
Town of Lansing funds.

AUTHORIZATION FOR HIGHWAY SUPT, TO PURCHASE ITEMS:
RESOLUTION by Mr. Spry and seconded by Mr. Ferris that the Highway Supt.,
be authorized to purchase equipment, tools and implements, tires and tubes in the
amount of $500.00 without prior approval.

METHOD OF CLAIMS TO BE PRESENTED FOR PAYMENT:
RESOLUTION by Mr. Spry and seconded by Mr. Ferris that vouchers for claims
for General Fund and Highway Fund be presented. and audited in accordance with
(Town Law A.T. 103). This inspection will take place by the Town Board at the
beginning of each regular meeting.

.ASSOCIATION OF TOWNS ANNUAL MEETINIG:
RESOLUTION by Mr. Ferris and seconded by Mr. Spry that the Town Board and Town
Officials be authorized to attend meeting in New York on February 5, 6, and 7, 1968
and that necessary expenses be a town charge. Mr. Spry named delegate and Mr. Ferris
named alternate.

APPOINTMENT OF COMMITTEES:
It was decided by the Board that the Town Board would act as a committee of one
bn all town problems.
RESOLUTION by Mr. Spry and seconded by Mr. Ferris:
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the Town Board of the Town of Lansing to establish
a Youth Recreation project and
WHEREAS, the Town Board of the Town of Lansing is about to submit an application
for such project, to the New York State Youth Commission for its approval., reimbursement
of funds expended on said project as provided by Chapter 56 of the laws of 1945 as
amended, now therefore be it
RESOLVED that such application is in all respects approved and Harris B. Dates,
Supervisor, is hereby directed and authorized. to duly execute and to present said.
application to the N.Y.S. Youth Commission for approval,
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately,

Supervisor Dates reported that figures are still being compiled. on Highway wages
and fringe benefits prior to a :decision being made by the Board to present to the
Highway Department .Employees' Association.
Supervisor Dates reported that Mr. Scofield, representing-Ceracche T.V. Corp..had
contacted him and requested that he intercede with Co. Hwy. Supt. Stevenson to go
into right -of -way on N..Triphammer Rd. to complete cable going to Ludlowville and
Myers. Mr. Stevenson will contact Mr. Scofield.
Action was deferred on making appointments
for the
Planning
Board
Vacancies
and Youth Recreation Commission vacancies until
more of
the Town
Board
were present.
Highway Supt. Sharpsteen inquired about the roadway being built directly north
of the Ford Agency on the property of Robert Gibbs. Town Clerk - instructed to write
Mr. Gibbs concerning his future plans for said roadway.
• Letter received and read. from Wilber and Mary Collins, regarding condition of
the Collins Road. Highway Supt. Sharpsteen to investigate same. '
AUDIT RESOLUTION by Mr. Sprj and seconded by Mr. Ferris:
RESOLVED that General Fund bills #1 thro # 17 totalling $ , 993.95and Highway
Fund bills #1 thro #20 totalling $ 17,355.08be and the same are hereby approved for
payment.

WHEREAS, a petition for the creation of a lighting district
known as Lansing- Highgate Lighting District in the Town of Lansing
Tompkins County, New York, the said petition being dated the
19th day of December 1967 was duly presented to this Town Board, '
together with the necessary map and-plan attached thereto; and p�p

WHEREAS,an Order was duly adopted by the Town Board on the
19th day of December 1967, reciting-the filing of said petition,11
the improvements proposed, the boundaries of the proposed district

and specifying.January 9, 1968 at 8:15 o'clock in the evening
as the time and'the Town Hall in said Town as the place where the
said Board would meet to consider the petition and to hear all
persons interested in the subject thereof concerning the same; and
WHEREAS, such Order was duly adopted and published, as required

respect to the boundaries of the proposed district as herein

with the New York State Electric and Gas Corporation for street
lighting arrangements in the said district; and that such distei

cause a certified copy of this Resolution to be recorded in the
