The Town Board. congratulated. and. thanked. Kim, Davis, Chairman, his committee and. all the firemen of the Lansing Fire Department who recently completed. a long arid: difficult piece 'of %work in preparing the 1967 Lansing Town Directory for publicca:tion. As a result of their untiring efforts, the Lansing Fire Department has compiled. a clear, accurate, detailed. and. complete Lansing Directory in easily digested. form which is gratefully appreciated• The Board. discussed. problems relating to the Lansing Town Dump. For the benefit of the entire-community, these difficulties must be confronted. with and. solved., Mr. Ferris noted. that a dump could. not be operated. efficiently unless it was controlled. Mr. Ferris was requested. to bring the Town Board, d.ump recommendations. Water Supertend.ent Howell reported. on the progress of the building being constructed. for Lansing Water District #1. The building is up, pumps are in and, the new tank adjoining has been filled.. Mr. Howell offered. the following resolution and. moved. its adoption: RESOLVED, on recommendation of the Town Engineer that this Board. hereby authorizes the Town Clerk to receive bids on a 500,000 gallon Water Storage Tank and. connecting mains to be located. at the Tompkins County Airport Research Park on behalf of Lansing Water District #1. Seconded. by Mr. Spry. Discussion followed.. Unanimously carried.. Mr. Spry offered, the following resolution and. moved. its adoption: RESOLVED, that the Town Engineer be and. he hereby is authorized and. directed. to prepare plans and. contract documents for the con- struction of water mains and. appurtenances in the Catherwood. Sub- division in Lansing Water District ##1, and the Town Clerk is further authorized. to obtain bids for said, construction after plans and, documents have been prepared. and. be it further RESOLVED, that said plans, contrast documents and. bids shall not be completed. and obtained. until after the Water Resources Commission has approved. application for Catherwood. Sub - division. Seconded. by Mr. Kidney. Discussion followed. Unanimously carried.. Mr. Kidney expressed concern in regard to the bridge on Bower Road. being so narrow. Requested. the Board. to inspect same. Mr. Kidney offered the following resolution and. moved its ad.option. WHEREAS, Highway Superintendent Sharpsteen has advertised for bid.s for one new four -wheel drive dump truck, in accordance with specifications filed, in the Town Clerk's office, and. WHEREAS, Charles J. Blackwell, Inc. of Horseheads, N.Y. with a bid. of $23,700.00 is the lowest responsible bid.d.er, now therefore be it RESOLVED, upon recommendation of the Highway Superintend.ent, that said. bid of Charles J. Blackwell, Inc. be and. the same hereby is accepted. and. the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized. to complete the purchase of the aforesaid truck. It I Seconded. by Mr. Spry. Highway Superintendent- discussed the 1 proposed highway garage. The Board promised. prompt action to�be taken in order that the necessary information be brought before the voters for their decision. Highway Superintendent requested. to schedule meeting with Village of Cayuga Heights Engineer, County Highway Engineer -and. himself to solve drainage problems on corner of Sheraton Drive and. North Triphammer Road.. Highway Superintendent also requested. to schedule Road. Tour with the Board. following Labor Day, Highway Superintendent Sharpsteen reported. on the following projects: the bridge under construction on Triphammer Terrace and the progress to date; plans to clean out the sluice adjoining Mrs. Stull °s cottage at Lansing Station; request from Lansing School to rough -up tennis court a.nd, cover with 6 11.of gravel; and. receipt of monies from the State Conservation Department for work.d.one by the Highway Department on parking areas per the State Conservation Department's design. Mr. Ferris offered. the following resolution and. moved. its adoption. RESOLVED that Highway Superintendent be.authorized. to attend, the three day Highway School at Cornell University being held. during the month of July 1967, and. all legitimate expenses be a town charge. Seconded. by Mr. Spry. Unanimously carried.. Mr. Oliver Holden reported, on the Town of Lansing's Sesquicentennial Celebration, the events and. observances held. and. the successful results. Mr. Holden stated. that local historical data would. be placed. in the basement of the Town Hall and. racks and, screen would. be constructed. to enable convenient storage. Justice's Spry and. Ferris reported. on the school they attended. in Buffalo, N.Y. on July 1st which was held by the Judicial Conference. The program was very, educational and informative and Mr. Spry added, that the cost would. be tremendous if the Justice Courts were not retained., Clerk read, letter received. from the City of Ithaca, approving our request for extension of time for City 'Water service-pending completion of the N. Triphammer Road. pumping station. Letter also read from State of New York Dept. of- Public Works giving their approval to our applications for Town Highway Improvement Programs for 1968, namely, Munson Road. and•Brooks Road.. Mrs. Jennie Conlon forwarded a request that the Lansing Highway Department be represented, by a float or highway equipment, in the Fireman's Parade to be held. in Lansing on July 22nd.. Planning Board. Chairman, James Showacre, presented. to the Town Board, for their study, copies of a. proposed, trailer ordinance which the Planning Board have just recently formulated. and. recommended. for the Town of Lansing. Mr. Showacre also reported on developments to date regarding possibilities of Lansing receiving financial assistance from the Federal- State "701" subsidy. program. Discussion followed in regard. to subdivision rules and. regulations and. what -obligations and. procedures should.'be assumed. by the Town Board and Planning Board simultaneously in controlling these,requirements. Supervisor Dates presented. his monthly report and. explained in detail. Filed, same with Town Clerk, AUDIT RESOLUTION by Mr. Spry and seconded by Mr. Kidney: RESOLVED that General Fund. bills #143 thro 173 totalling $ 9,091.69 and.
