MOTION was made by Mr. Spry and seconded by Mr. Ferris that the minutes•of_ the• April meetings as submitted by the Town Clerk he approved. Carried Highway Superintendent Sharpsteen discussed the truck bid''openings that was held on April 27, 1967. Mr. Sharpsteen advised the Board that he would advise rejecting all bids at this time due to excessive cost and make further study on additional size trucks. MOTION by Mr. Spry and seconded by Mr. Ferris that report on bids for heavy equipment was received and his all bids at this time be accepted. MOTION by Mr. Ferris and seconded by Mr. Spry: the Highway Superintendent's recommendation of rejecting Carried 14HERE4S, the Clerk has duly advertised for a 1967 Model Carryall Type Van Truck for use of Lansing Water Districts, and 116:T!iE'R.EAS, Cayuga Motors Sales Corp. of Ithaca, N.Y. was the lowest responsible bidder with a bid in the amount of $2,223.00 for a 1967 Model Ca.rrya.11 Type. Van Truck, now therefore be it RESOLVED, that said bid of Cayuga Motors Sales.-'Corp. the same hereby is accepted. MOTION by Mr. Spry and seconded by Mr. Howell: WHEREAS, the Clerk has duly for use in the elections, and aforementioned be and 0 advertised for one Automatic Carried✓ Voting Machine WHEREAS, Automatic Voting Machine Corporation of Jamestown, N.Y. was the lowest responsible bidder with a. bid in the amount of $1,726.00 for one Automatic Voting Machine;of the Nine Party Row, Thirty Office Column size, now therefore be it RESOLVED, that said bid of Automatic Voting Machine Corporation afore- mentioned be and the same hereby is accepted. Carried Mr. Frank Horvath again appeared before the Town Board in regard to the proposed road he would like to construct which would be acceptable to the Town. The Board advised Mr. Horvath, as previously, that there was a RJolution adopted on March 8, 1966 stating that no dead -end roads would be accepted from any developer to be added to the Town Highway system. It was suggested by the Board' that the Planning Board of Lansing analyze the position the Town has adopted on accepting roads from developers and present their data for study. Mr. James Showacre, Chairman of the Planning Board gave a report of their activities to date. At the present time they are revising the Trailer Ordinance and formalizing same to present to the Lansing Town Board for consideratibn, Continued I 0 Continued May 16, 1967 Mr. Lawrence Caldwell requested the Town to form a larger sewer district than the one now accepted by the Village of Cayuga. Heights, which would include the Oakcrest area. The.Board, explained that the Engineering Firm -of O'Brien and Gere had been instructed to make the new district as large as would be economically feasible and acceptable to the Village of Cayuga Heights. Mr, Shulman also stated that he too was interested in public sewer service for his property located on Graham and N. Triphammer Roads. Atty. Williamson explained that persons interested in forming a sewer district should present their own engineering glans and area involved together with a petition to the Town Board, Water Superintendent Howell reported on the Lansing Water District and its developments to date. Mr. Oliver Holden reported on the contemplated plans underway for the Town's Sesquicentennial Celebration, Highway .Superintendent Sharpsteen and the TOIAm Board discussed road signs to be installed in the near future, MOTION made by Mr. .Spry and seconded by Mr.: Howell: That Hig i hway Supt. Shs.rnsteen be instructed to replace the two stop signs with two yield signs, effective immediately, at the intersection of Brickyard Road and Buck Road, Said motion based on correspondance received by Mr. Spry stating that the t To roads were Town Fiallways and traffic control is under the jurisdiction of the Town of Lansing, Vote of Town Board . . (Aye) Harris Dates, Supervisor Carried Justice Spry commented on the proposed district courts now under consider - ation at the Constitutional Convention. He stated, "the office ofiJustice of the Peace serves the people far better than any District Court system, manned by expensive personnel, could ever hope to. This is proven by present District Court plans now in operation. Like many high cost plans, the costs are hidden by the statements that the state would pay the bill _ but who is the state but we taxpe:jers. To lose our personal Justice System is even the highest cost of this effort to strip one of the last forte of local government Ileft to the taxpayer under the guise of professional justice*, with no guarantee that we would get our $30,000 a year's worth out of 'our professional lawyers." MOTION made by Mr. Spry: That the Town bf LansinK Town Board 'go on record in favor of maintaining the Justice Court System and maintaining the office of Justice of the Peace in its present form to assure the court closest to the people be kept in the hands of the local government, and he it further RESOLVED that the Town Clerk be instructed to notify the proper committee of the Constitutional Convention, the newspaper and the Chairman of the County Board of Supervisors of this action. Seconded by Mr. Howell. Carried Atty. Williamson discussed in detail the Junk Yard Law which was added to the General Municipal Law and went into effect September 1, 1965. Atty. Williamson to study and present outline of a Junk Yard Ordinance flr consideration by the Board. Supervisor Dates presented his monthly report and explained same.in. detail.• Filed with Town Clerk. AUDIT RESOLUTION by Mr. ferric and seconded by Mr. A;owell: RESOLVED that General Fund bills #84 thro #108 totalling $ 4,398.72 and Highway Fund bills #123 thro #155 totalling$22,795.33 be and the same are hereby approved for payment.
