HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-03-084 March 7, 1967 The Lansing Town Board met in special session at the Lansing Town.Hall to discuss Sewer Dist. #1 and sewage disposal problems existing in the southern part of Lansing. All board members having been duly notified, Supervisor Dates called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. ROLL CALL Harris B. Dates Supervisor Present Fred Spry NJustice . Present Floyd Ferris Justice Present Charles Howell Councilman Present James Kidney Councilman Absent Jane Bush Clerk Present Visitors: Dr. Robert H. Broad, Atty. William Kerr and Arthur S. Shull, Dr. Broad was introduced and spoke in regard to the sewage treatment plant presently serving the Lansing Apartments. He stated that the plant had been a source of nuisance because of operation and location and the Board of Health was most anxious to have this plant eliminated and the Lansing Apartments be included in a sewer district. He felt this was a most opportune time for the parties involved to liquidate the existing problem. Atty. Kerr spoke on behalf of the Lansing Apartments. He stated that Mr. Talandis would expect to be reimbursed by the Town.for his existing sewer plant if his dwellings were included in a district. The price of the, plant was offered to the Town in the amount of $50,000.00. The Board discussed the offer made end concluded that it was far too high a figure to even consider. Mr. Kerr to contact his clients regarding the boards decision and report back. Supervisor Dates to contact O'Brien.and Gere for their opinions on sewer lines and boundaries that would prove most feasible to the town. Meeting adjourned until 7 :30 P.M., March 8th, to consider the hiring of a Water Superintendent and any other business that may need to be acted upon by the Board. Meeting adjourned at 9;30 P.M. March 8, 1967 I The Lansing Town Board met in an adjourned session as called by the Super- visor at the adjournment of the March 7th meeting. The meeting was held at the South Lansing Town Hall at 7:30 P.M. with Supervisor Dates presiding. ROLL CALL Harris B. William Kerr and Arthur S. Shull. The Board Members reviewed all the applications received to date for the Lansing Water Superintendent position. After each application was gone over thoroughly, the following motion was offered: MOTION by Mr. Spry and seconded by Mr. Ferris that Caliel Abraham be hired for the position of Water Superintendent.., , MOTION by Mr. Kidney and seconded by Mr. Ferris that said motion offered to hire Caliel Abraham be tabled for one week. °Carried all present voted aye. F, Mr. Kerr informed the Board that his clients had decided to settle for $40,000.00 to liquidate the existing sewer plant now serving the La.nsing.:Apts. RESOLUTION by Mr. Howell that the Board reject the offer of $409000000 made by Mr. Kerr, representing the Lansing Apartments. Seconded by Mr. Kidney. Discussion followed. Carried with one dissenting vote of Mr. Spry, stating that he would prefer negotiations be left open without restrictions in the event that it is the most suitable solution. Carried Meeting adjourned 9 :30 P.M.
