HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-08-10August 10, 1965 The Lansing Town Board met in regular session at the Lansing Town'Hall on August 10, 1965 at 8:OO'P.M. with Supervisor Dates presiding. ROLL CALL Harris B. Dates Supervisor Present Fred Spry Justice Present Floyd Ferris Justice Present James.Kidney Councilman Present Charles Howell Councilman Present Donald Sharpsteen Highway Superintendent Present Kenneth Tarbell Chairman Assessor Present Jane C. Bush Town Clerk-, Present Visitors: Joseph McGill and Clayton Bradley, The Supervisor opened the meeting having-the clerk take the Roll Call and read the minutes of the July 12 and 27th meetings. Minutes approved as read. The Supervisor related the following information to the Board. Mr. David Morey, Associate Engineer-for-the Division of Water Resources informed him that we Should have the results from the Public Hearing held concerning Water District #1 approximately the first week in September. Mr, Butler is in the process of preparing figures to discuss with-the-Board concerning said Water District #1. The Supervisor also reported that the Lansing School Board and their Attorney, Air. Clynes, will go over the proposed Water District # 2 contract between the School and the Town, at their meeting to be held August 20th. RESOLUTION by Mr. Ferris and seconded by Mr. Spry: That the approximate one mile road, starting at the y- intersection of Lansing Station and Sweazey Roads, roughly paralleling the Cayuga Lake shoreline south towards Ross Road, be named "Bill George Road ". Said road honoring William F. George, former Town Supervisor from 1922 to 1926. Mr. George lived near the intersection many years. Resolution carried, all present voted Aye. MOTION by Mr. Spry and seconded by Mr. Ferris: 1 That Mary Brock be appointed an Election Inspector from July 15, 1965 to July 15, 1966. Motion carried, all present voted Aye. RESOLUTION by Mr. Kidney and seconded by Mr. Spry: That a request be made to the State Traffic Commission to lower the speed limit from Route 34B down through Myers and the Park. Vote of Town Board . . . . . . . . (Aye) Charles Howell, Councilman Vote of Town Board . . . . . . . . (Aye) Harris Dates, Supervisor Resolution was thereupon declared duly adopted. Mr. Tarbell informed the Board that the Tax Roll showed a net increase of $362,141.00 for the coming year. Also discussed the new appraisal program underway in the County. Mr. Kidney reported that he had been receiving complaints from town residents that the Lansing Park was always so filled up with out of town people that it was difficult to enjoy the picnic facilities. Mr. Dateq said that the Park Commission had received similar complaints and they were now conducting a survey. The Supervisor presented his monthly report and explained same in detail. Filed with Town Clerk, AUDIT RESOLUTION by Mr. Spry and seconded by Mr. Ferris: RESOLVED, that General Fund bills #135 through #153 'totalling $3,732.53 and Highway bills #189'through #217 totalling $21,023.61 be and the same are hereby approved for payment. Carried all present voted Aye. l r 1 � i, i Mr. Ferris spoke in behalf of the persons getting to and from their cottages at Nut Ridge with the present road conditions. It was suggested by the Nut Ridge-Cottage Association that the Towri of Lansing acceptla fifty foot right -of -way across Mr. Nedrow's land connecting the Starks Road to Mr. Larsen's property line. It was the consensus of opinion of the Board that this would not solve the problem of having a permanent road for the thirteen cottages at Nut Ridge, The Town, Board asked Mr. Ferris to relay this message to their lawyer, asking him to try and get a right -of -way across Mr. Larsens land. At this time the Board would give it futther consideration; .. Mr. Clayton Bradley informed the Board that he is not opposed to Water District #2, however, he can not give the town any more favorable conditions than now exist.
