HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-11-10November 10, 1964 The Lansing Town Board met in regular session at the Lansing Town Hall on'Nove`mber 11, 1964 at 8 P.M. with Supervisor Dates presiding. ROLL CALL Harris B. Dates Supervisor Present James Kidney Councilman Present Charles Howell Councilman Present Floyd Ferris Justice Present Fred Spry Justice Present Donald Sharpsteen Highway Superintendent Present Kenneth Tarb6ll Assessor Chairman Present Robert Williamson Attorney Present Jane Bush Clerk Present Visitors: Mrs.'Dart, Dr. Fisher, Mr. Thomas Miller, Mr. Gerald Talandis and Mr. Joe Joseph. The Supervisor opened the meeting with the Roll Call and having the clerk read. the minutes of the October 13th, November 4th and November 5th meetings. Approved as read. Mr. Joseph was introduced and he presented his display of windows that could be purchased for the Town Hall. It was the decision of the Board that he install one large window on a trial basis. RESOLUTION by Mr. Kidney and seconded by Mr. Spry: RESOLVED, that the Town Board duly adopt Resolution approving the Establishment of Water District. Said Resolution attached hereto and made a part thereof. Discussion period followed after which time said Resolution was declared duly adopted. Clerk advised to post and advertise Notice that same was duly adopted and prepare necessary data to be filed with Dept. of Audit & Control. Mrs. Dart and Mr. Talandis discussed their problems of sewage disposal in regards to future building. Stated that the Tompkins Co. Board of Health were reluctant in approving future building until a County Sewer District had been formed or a hook -up with Cayuga Heights. Mr. Howell suggested a meeting with Mr.'McWain to determine how sewer district was progressing. Meeting to be set -up by Board members and carried through. Attorney Williamson read Notice of Claim that was received Oct. 29, 1964 concerning negligence of the Town of Lansing in construction and maintaining of the intersection located at Route 13 and Triphammer Road. Said claimants being Margaret and Stephen Knapp. Supervisor advised that no dog enumerator had been appointed. MOTION by Mr. Ferris and seconded by Mr. Kidney: that Raymond McMillen be appointed Dog Enumerator and Barney Westcott alternate. Carried all present voted Aye. Mr. Sharpsteen discussed the conditions of the Town Highway trucks. After much discussion the following Motion was made. MOTION by Mr. Howell and seconded by Mr. Kidney, that the Highway Superintendent be authorized to advertise for bids for one Diesel engine to be installed in Brockway Model 260 according to his specifications. . Filed report with Clerk. AUDIT RESOLUTION by Mr. Kidney and seconded by Mr. Howell: RESOLVED, that general fund bills #220 through {259 totalling $4,307.56 and highway bills #262 through #291 totalling $91,622.88be and the same are hereby approved for payment. WHEREAS, the Town Board of Lansing.'County of Tompkinss State of New York, has this day adopted a resolution pursuant to Section 203 -e of the Town Law approving the establishment of Lansing Water District. No, 1 -b NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Supervisor be authorized and directed to make application to the Department of Audit and Control, pursuant to Section 209 -f of the Town Law for permission to created said water district.
