Mr. Thomas G. Miller, Engineer for Water District, explained his preliminary
report in detail, which included the three stages he recommended in the develop-
ment program.
The Supervisor then opened the Public Hearing for discussion.
The cost of a water district was discussed in great detail. It was explained
how assessment, frontage and usage would determine the formula used. The
financial benefit the commercial users would be to a water district was also
weighed carefully. It was explained that said cost would be State controlled
and the Co. Health Dept. would draw up general rules. Only the persons
benefitted by said district would. share in the cost.
The Lansing Water Works brought much deliberation and Mr. Miller stated
that it was most feasible to tie into this system. hiIhen asked for Mr. Talandis's
feelings on this situation, Mr. Adams spoke in his behalf. Mr. Adams stated
that he was not prepared for a statement at the present time and felt this
meeting premature as there were too many legal questions yet to be answered.
He did say however, that their system was not perfect, there were many
deficiencies to overcome and. they did need storage. There is water and it is
available. He feels this should be a County Water Area and not Town. When
and where they decide to go they will apply to the Water Resources Commission.
Several persons requested the Board to consider developing all three
stages at the same time, consequently, benefitting more persons at once and
being more economical. This request was too examined carefully.
At the close of the hearing, Mrs. Doris Brown and Mr. Arthur Shull
commended Mr. Miller and the Board for an excellent report and a job well done.
A show of hands by the persons at this meeting, with no one opposing,
recommended -the Town Board to pass a Resolution at the next Town Board Meeting
,to approve the Establishment of a [later District.
Public Hearing closed at 9:45 P.M.
