The Supervisor opened the meeting with the roll call and having the eclerk read the minutes of the April 14th meeting. No corrections. Approved as read, Supervisor read copy of a letter to Gerald Talandis from Tompkins County Health Dept. Letter stated that Talandis was to accept ho new additional sewage until obtaining approval from the Co. Health Dept. and the previous stipulated conditions met and approved. Detailed discussion was held on the Sewage Disposal Survey made by O'Brien and Gere and what meetings have been held to date. The Board requests continuing consultations between representatives of the firm and members of the Tompkins Co. Board of Health. The attached Bond Resolution of the'Town Board of the Town of Lansing authorizing the issuance of a bond or bonds of said town in an amount not in excess of $50,000.00 for the purchase of one 1964 Hough Loader and one "Austin - Western grader was passed and the following vote taken: Vote of Town Board'. Discussion held regarding -the progress being made on the Lansing Town Park. "The well has been drilled and the Bath House will be ready for operation prior to use of beach facilities this year. The construction of boating facilities, for the exclusive use of Town Residents, is also nearing completion. Atty. Williamson explained in detail the procedure of Lansing becoming a First Class Town. The advantages were discussed and it was the decision of the Board to obtain more information on this for study. Mr. Sharpsteen reported on Highway Dept. Approximately $10,000.00 is to be spent on special improvements. Ford Hill Road and Lockerby Hill road are to be worked on this summer. Supervisor presented his monthly report and explained same in detail. Motion made by Mr. Howell and seconded by Mr. Spry to pay General Fund bills #75 through #100 totalling $12,530.12. Carried all present voted Aye. Motion made by Mr. Spry and seconded by Mr. Kidney to pay Highway bills #106 through #11+3'. Carried all present voted Aye. Ur �' i .•l Ur �' i Ur �' RESOhUTION by Mr. Howell and seconded by Mr. Kidney: WHEREAS, The Town of Lansing is in the process of preparing its Town Park for •opening at the end of June 1964, 'and It-dHEREAS, the Town Board has been advised by the Commissioner of Health for the County of Tompkins that said park may not open unless and until a bath house for men and women is constructed in accordance with the specifications as set forth by the Tompkins County Health Department, and INRfEREAS, this Town Board has ascertained that said bath house cannot be completed prior to the 1st day of Jly, 1964, if bids are taken. on said structure since there is a lack of time between now dnd the 1st of July, 1964, and. WHEREAS, the construction of said bath house is necessary for the protection of the life, health, safety and property of the inhabitants of the said Town of Lansing, NOT49 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by this Board that a public emergency - exists in the town for the construction of a bath house in order to enable the Town Park to open on the of July, 1964 which park will be for the benefit of all the citizens of the Town of Lansing; that said emergency exists due to the fact that the bath house cannot be completed by bid and'contract prior to said date thereby forcing the park to be closed to the'citizens. That said emergency further exists by reason of the fact that this Board has been advised that said bath house must be completed in order to open the park to the public, and BE IT FURTuER RESOLVED, that-due to the public emergency which has arisen regarding the construction of the bath house that said Town Board proceed to get the lowest price posssible from interested contractors for the construction of said bath house in accordance with specifica. tions outlined by the Tompkins County Health Department.
