August 13, 1962
The Lansing Town Board met in regular session at South Lansing Town Hall with
Supervisor Dates presiding. Meeting held at 8:00 P. M.
Supervisor asked for Roll Call, dlerk called roll.

Visitors : Helen Gordon from Ithaca Journal ,Manley....1 Thaler, and approx.
50 residents. blso Mr. and Mrs Henry James from Oak Crest Road.
The 6upervisor opened the meeting by haveing clerk read the minutes .
Clerk read minutes of the July 9, and special meeting of July 23, a clarification
as to who Atty. Thaler represented for the Sewer District on July 9th. and placeing
the motion at the hearing for the approval of the Sewer District. Clerk corrected
these and minutes approved.
The Supervisor advised the Board that Mr. Henry awes of
Heights road had a matter to discuss with the Board.

Oak Crest and Cayuga
Mr. James stated that he wished to advise the Board of a nuisance caused by the
noise from the Dag Kennell operated by Mr. Neil Me Lain known as Royal Mark Kennel
He stated that the continual barking of the dogs especially during late•afternoon
and early evening was so•annoying that his family could not get any enjoyment of
being out of doors and he had taken this up with Mr. Me Lain but had not been able
to get him to take care of it He also had contacted the dog warden "and Sheriff
office. He would like to know if there was some thing the Board could do to help
this situation .
Discussion.
After considerable discussion the Board were of the opinion that this nuisance
should be corrected , but the Atty. for the Town would have to be consulted to
learn what the Town Board could do to have it corrected .
The Supervisor asked the visitors if any one had other business to be brought
before the Board. •
Mr. Russell Searles stated-that he with other residents of the'Town were in
attendance at the June 18th meeting , when the Board voted to appoint a planning
Board and that he with a number of other residents attending that meeting were not
satisfied with the action of the Board to appoint a Planning Board and wished to
file a petition to the Board ,
Stateing ; They were against any planning and Zoneing' for the Town of Lansing at
this time.
Petition presented to the Board to file of;rn 56 pages with approximately 1,000
signatures.
Discussion
During discussion the question came up for deferring action on appointment
of a planning Board until further study of the above filed petition.

Motion by Mr. HowelL seconded by Mr. Ferris:
That action on the motion to appoint a planning Board at this time be postponed
until further study on petitions that have been presented to the Town Board,
Discussion:
Mr. Spry called for a 5 min. recess, Supervisor granteda recess.
Supervisor declared recess over and called for a roll call vote on the motion .

Clerk reported receiveing confirmation for the proposed Erwin road to be built
in 1963 from the New York State Dept. of Public Works.'
Supervisor asked Mr. Howell to report on Park at Myers .
He reported that Mr. Ligouri of Co. Dept. of Health and Mr. Merrifield had met
with him regarding what had'to be done in order to open the Park for Swimming,
Although regulatIns for out door activities at a Town Park are governed to a
great extent byL aw , for a trial period these regualtions were allowed to beIm
modified . it was hoped to have it opened last of this month , life guards
had been found and -some equipment was yet to be acquired.
Discussion
The supervisor advised that the budget was nearly used up and the amount to
be used for this would have to be limited .
The ' upervisor asked Mr. Tarbell Assessor Chr. if he had any thing to advise
the Board on the Assessmeht after the grievance day session. He advised that
the completed roll would be filed with the Clerk within the week and that he
understood that Beam were going to protest the assessment,.
He also gave the approx ; figure of increase to be $300, 0000
The Supervisor presented his monthly report explaining same in detail , fileing
same with the Clerk.
Highway Supt, not being present no.highway report.

Motion by Mr. Ferris seconded by Mr. Howell:
That the bills numbered from 105 thru 117 as
Accounts be paid as audited, j'9 .
listed in the record of Town
Carried all voted Aye.
The Clerk advised the.Board that he had been served summons regarding the
closeing and abandoning of Graham Road by the New York Z2 tate Electric and Gas Corp.
this being a show cause petitionto be argued before Supreme`Court Judge Zimpson.
The Supervisor adjourned the meeting until 96n mug. 20, 7'30 P. M. So.. Lansing
