Bernard Ruzicka, Chairman, opened the meeting with statement that the following
Motion had been adopted unanimously by those present, after considerable study and
discussion.
Mr. Edmondston read the motion:
That the Town Board should consider the forming of a Planning Board.
Discussion and Question period:
The Supervisor asked the Chairman to explain to the Board how they arrived at
their decision.
Mr. Edmondston explained the Committee's reasons for the recommending the Board
to consider forming a Planning Board. In view of the growth of the Town of Lansing and
the changes that may come about by the relocation of Route 13 and further expansion
of Research Park at Airport by Cornell University, a greater part of which is in the
Town ofBRnsing. Also that an appointment of a Planning Board of the people from the
Town was not enough; some professional help should be had not along the line of a full
time or expensive group, but with proper searching a party could be found to work
with a Plannning Board on part time at a nominal fee.
Mr. Ruzicka and Dr. Fisher also explained their thoughts which brought about
the Committee's decision. The pending water supply for the Town and future areas to
be considered and a number of other reasons for sound planning in order to make the
Town of Lansing an incentive for future industrial and residential development, and
to assist in sound planning when relocation of present State Highways are considered
by the New York State Department of Public Works,
Mr. Haynor and Mr. Solomon explained their thinking along these same lines.
Mr.
Naegley
said that
planning over a
