HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-08-08Au rust 8 1960 The Lansing Town Board met in regular session 7:30 P. M. at South Lansing Fire 'fall Supervisor Dates presideing. Roll Call Harris Dates Supervisor Pres. Floyd Ferris Justice Of the Peace Pres, Charles Howell Councilman Pres. James Kidney Councilman Absent Donald Sharpst-een Highway Supt. Pres, Joseph Mc Gill Clerk Pres, Visitors Mr. Bernard Ruzicka, Mr. Gagnier Kenneth Drake, and Legrand Chase. Meeting called to order by Supervisor and asked for the minutes of the July 11th meeting . Clerk-re ad the minutes and no corrections approved. • Supervisor asked the visitors if they had any problems Mr. Ruzicka stated he was in no hurry so Mr. Gagnier stated his problem which was; That the Zane Grey Corral Association had purchased some land near North Lansing and they were going to bulid a race track for horses and Microds . They would like information on the hiremng of the Town Bull Dozer -to construct this track . Discussion The Supervisor advised Mr. Gagnier that as he understood the Law -1 own Highway equipment could not be leased to any private individuals or associations he reffered this question to the Highway upeeintendent and also the -Aty. Mr. Williamson who had came in during the request Highwa„ Supt, stated that the only way this could be leased was to other municipalities such as towns villages or school districts the Atty. read the law on this to Mr. Gagnier and in view of this he wmthdrew his request. Mr. Ruzicka brought before the Board the question of numbering of the cottages at Lansing Station from the South they and numbered from 1 to 39 and at the beginning of the Lansing Station Road extension the numbers were in the 300 series, the association would like a continuation of the numbers from 39 on tb the Algerine Road, Discussion U a suggestion of Mr. Ferris chairman of the House numbering- Committee a;imeeting would be arranged with Mr. Tarbell Assessor and Mr. ��uzickaand Mr. Ferris so that this change in numbering at Lansing Station Road could be arranged. • Mr. Ruzicka also asked for a Lansing Station Road,sign at the Millard Robinson corner. This was granted and Highway Supt. is to order and install sign. Mr. Legrand E. Chase Jr. placed before the Board a request for permission to run a water line along road right of way on a part of Dart Road agreeing to furnish the Thwn adequate protection along with a certificate of insurance freeing the Town from any liability that may develop from this operation. Discussion: Motion by Mr. Howell seconded by Mr. Ferris: That the Supervisor be authorized to execute a righto of way agreement on a. portion of Dart Road for a. water line with Legrand E. Chase Jr. and Irene Chase original to be recorded in County Clerk's Office and one copy filed with the Town Clerk. Carried all voted Aye. The Supervisor brought up the matter of the in the road right of way on Maple Ave. in front Campbell stateing that she had called him about tree. takeing down a dead tree of the home of Mrs. Gertrude the dangerous condition of the Highway Superintendent advised that he would get someone to take this tree down as soon as the Telephone Company and Electric and Gas Company would cooperate in takeing down the wires at time of cutting. 5.7 2 Aug. 8, cint'd. The 5upervisor.plRced before the Board the request of the Lansing Central School District No 1 for the apportionment of the S Totem of Lansing School and Gospel Fund action upon which was delayed from the July meeting. Discussion: Resolved_ by Mr.Ferris seconded by Mr. Howell: Resolution: That a proposition be placed on Election substantia].JNr set forth Quote, Shall the Supervisor of the Town the Town School and Gospel .fund the the Town of Lansing in accordant the ballot at the next general as follows: of Lansing be authorized to apportion among the several school Districtsof e with the Education Law. Carried all The Supervisor placed before the Board the designation of places for the Town of Lansing and suggesting that there be one named for.the three registration days under P.P. R.. Discussion: Resolved by Mr. Howell seconded by Mr. That the Polling places for the Town District No. 1 , District No. 21 District No. 3, District No. 4, District No. 5, the Polling central place Ferris: of Lansing General Election be. Ludlowville Fire Hall North Lansing Grange Hall South Lansing Tire Hall Lake Ridge Home Bureau Rooms Gibbs School House and that there be one central Polling Place for Registration Days October 11, 12, and 13th this to be the South Lansing Fire Hall. Carried all voted "ye. The Supervisor presented his monthly report explaining same in detail fileing same with the Town Jerk. He also advised the Board of the fileing of a continueing complaint of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc. for the exemption of all their property in the Town of Lansing from taxes, copy given to the Cle rk for fileing. Highway Superintendent reported the Erwin Road to dump completed only some trimming up to be done , cleaned out Sslmon Creek fron Hy, Bridge to R.R. Bridge extending park road to Lake makeing acess to the beach and approximately 10 miles of resurfa.ceiig of town black_ top roads. Motion by Mr. Ferris seconded by Mr. Howell* That the bills numbered from 103 thru 110 as listed in the.reeord of Town accounts be paid as audited. Carried all voted Aye. Adjourned 10:5.5 �'. M.
