Supervisor Dates opened the April meeting for:business dispenseing with the
reading of the minutes at this time calling on Dr. Fisher to place his problem
before the Board,
Dr. Fisher explained. to the Board that he was very much interested in the
construction of an interchange.on the Cayuga. Heights road for the entrance at that
point to the proposed limited acess route 13. This would enable_residents.along
Cayuga Heights rodd to get into the city or to points north without going to the
other interchanges, also expidite traffie in case of accidente on Esty Hill Road.
He would like the Supervisor and the Board to advise the Board of Supervisors of
the advantages of construction at the time the road in built.
Minutes. of the garch 5, 60, meeting read no corrections approved,
Atty Williamson advised the Board that no action had been taken on the c;aim
of Richard David .
Supervisor read a letter from Town Clerk of Town of Dryden stateing that
the Town of Dryden had designated that part of Chicahominy road in question as
Chicahominy Road no action was tkaen on the change of name at this time.
Letter filed..
Supervisor read a letter received by him from Williard I. Emmerson expressing
interest and approval of the plans developed. by the Greater Ithaca Planning Board.

Letter read from Stewart Bros.., Schenectady N. Y. regarding ground water
surveys „ and :filed .
Supervisor read letter from Harlan C. Flack treasurer of the Greater Ithaca
Regina.l Planning Board stateing that the 1960 contribution of $1,000. for the
Town of Lansing is now due.
Supervisor Dates recommended. that the Town of Lansing form a Town Planning
Board and not be a member of the Greater Ithaca Reginal Planning Board.
Discussion.
-Resolution by Mr. Kidney seconded by Mr. Ferris:
Resolved that the Town of Lansing withdraw from membership to the Greaterlthaca
regimal Planning Board and the Town Hoard appoint a a.nsing Town Planning Board
as the need arises and the Town Clerk so inform the Greater Ithaca Reginal
Planning Board,
Carried all voted E'ye.
Letter from Mr. +homas Speno, Syracuse, N. Y. read and map shown by Clerk
outlining a proposed houseing development on the farm known as the Knight place
on the Lansingville and Ridge Road in the letter Mr. Speno is asking the Town
to build a road which woI_zld open up lots #1 through # 24 as shown on his map.
Clerk instructed to write Mr. Speno adviseing him of the policy of the Town of
Lansing in regard to the building oR roads in new developments.
Letter from Rexfield Sheffield submitting his name as a candidate for the
appointment of Justice of the Peace to fill vacancy read by Clerk.
Board discussed the appointment for Justice but no action was taken at this meeting.
Resolution by Mr.Kidney seconded by Mr. Howell:
Resolved , that the Supervisor be and he hereby is authorized to exicute on behalf
of the Totem a contract with K. G . Woodward and Associates of Webster, N. Y, copy
of which is attached hereto for furnisheing of engineering service in connection with
a proposed water district in the south part of the `town of Lansingfor a sum not to
e.xceed$350.00. .

This resolution shall take effect on April 5, 1960, provided there is no
petition filed with the Town Clerk protesting against the resolution passed by
the Town Board arch 5, 1960 subject to permissive referendun appropriateing
$350.00 for the preparation of=plans and maps preliminary to the formation of the
proposed water district.
Carried all voted Aye.
Mr. Tarbell Chr. of Assessors reported on the work of the Assessors also
on progress in assigning house numbers to new houees stateing that this
involved quite an amount of time and mileage .
Highway Supt. reported on work of the Highway department since the Earth.
meeting. Explaining that the extensive run off caused by the rain and melting
snow had resulted in the necessity to save highway and property at Myers in
doing a .rip rapping of Salmon Creek at the Myers bridge and with the help of
County ,,State and individual truck owners a serious property damage was averted.
In order to save the:bridge on the creek road spanning the gulf creek rip rapping
also had to be done this material was purchased from Cayuga Crushed Stone quarry.
The damage to all gravel and Town hard surfaced roads has been extensive .
From .this,public emergency the need arose for a low bed trailer to transport
haevy highway equipmefit to the place to be repaired.
Resolution by Mr. Howell seconded by Mr. Kidney:
Resolved, E "b ereas, on Thursday '`'larch-31st 1960 a public emergency arose due to
the floodingaof Salmon Creekand the washing out of the banks of the said creek
near Myers Point thereby endangering the life, health, and safety of the residents
thereof :,
and Whereas to shore the bank of the creek it was necessaryt to dump rip rap
.and other heavy rocks along said creekba_nk , and
Whereas it was necessary to purchase a low bed - trailer to transport a bull-
dozer to the scene of the emergency in order that the bull- d6zercould do the
necessary work in shoreing up the bank of the straam.
Resolved that the purchase of one used.low -bed trailer from L. P. Smith Co.
of Syracuse, N. Y. in the amount of $3,000. without competitive bidding because
ofr.the_>emergency aforesaid, be and the same hereby is approved .
Carried all voted Aye.
The Highway Supt. recommends the purchase of one industrial Mower•to be.used
by Highway department to mow roadsides and one power driven Broom.
Resolution by Mr. Kidney seconded by Mr. Ferris:
Resolved that the Town Clerk advertise for bids for one industrial type mower and
one power driven Broom to be used by the Highway department.
Carried all voted Aye.
Supervisor filed his monthly report with the Clerk and presented cppies to the
Boa rd.

That the bills numbered from 31 50 as listed in the record of town accounts
be paid as audited .
Carried all voted aye.
