Pres. Joseph Pic Gill Clerk Pres, Supervisor called the meeting to order by haveing Clerk read thc% call of the meeting . Minutes of the Dec. 5th , Jan. 2nd and Jan 9th read no corrections approved, Next order of business the appointment of a. Justice of Peace term to be from time of appointment to General election Nov. 1960. Supervisor read a letter from Mrs. Helen = lowland Chairman of Lansing Republican Committee recommending the appointmeni.t of Frederick Spry Jr., Supervisor recommended that the Board follow the recommendation of the Committee appointing Mr, Spry. Letter filed Supervisor asked for nominations . Mr. Howell nominated Mr. 'dilliam Ful.Wson as a candidate for Justice of peace . Mr. Kidney nominated Mr. Frederick Spry Jr. as a candidate for Justice of Peace. Supervisor asked if there were any other nominations , there being nor other names submitted nominations were closed and a discussion period on the nominations was opened, Mr. Kidney stated that he wanted to go along with the recommendation of the republican committee , and if the board go against the committee they would feel that the board has no faith in the work of the committee also the North end. of the Town has no representation on the Bo-?rdand they are entitled th this representation. This is my reason for standing behind the committee and Mr . Spry as a candidate . Mr. Howell stated in his views that if this appointment of Mr. Spry was made there would be three of the board working for the same organization and although this is nothing derogeratory against this man and in any political organization it is not good in haveing too many people from the same organization as municipal officers. Kidney That the appointment of a Justice of the Peace from time of appointment to general election Nov. 1960 be tabled until the March meeting due .to lack of unanimous support of any one candidate . Curried all voted Aye. Board suggested that the Clerk contact Chairman of the Republican Committee adviseing of the action of the Board on the appointment of a Justice of the peace . Highway '"upt. brought up the revision of wage scale of Highway Dept. employees, Discussion Motion by Mr. Howell seconded by Mr. Ferris That the Highway `'uperintendebt be authorized to set the wages of Highway Employees' at a minimum of $1.60 and a maximum of $2.35 per hour.
