The Lansing Town Board met in regular session at the South
Lansing Fire" hall le 30 -P. -M. with Supervisor sDates ire tiding

Guests were Mr. and Mrs Robert R. Whipple and Mr. Albert
Buckingham,
Supervisor Dates opened the meeting dispenseing with -the
reac'.ing of the minutes of the last meeting until later in the meeting.
Mr. Buckingham was called on to present his problem Mr
Buckingham presented to the Board a request for the building of a
strip of road 245 feet in length to the north on the Sweazey road
extension above the Railroad property on his property, this 245
feet of road Mr Buckingham said was promised him when needed , at
th& time he gave easement for the building of Sweazey Road extension
thru his property West to Railroad property thence Southeasterly
along Railroad properly this being done in 1952,
Discussion : The easement
this only gave the Town easement
above Railroad property.
After a thourough discussion

problem.

This was discussed and Mr. Whipple advised that the Town had not
purchased the Road name signs but were purchased by the Community
Council and the change of Road names would involve the cost of new
signs. Mr. Whipple stated he was sure the residents would be willing
to bear the expense of new sign names.
Motion by Mr. nidney seconded by Mr. Ferris:
That the name Teeter Road be changed to East Shore Circle
Carried all voted Aye.
Minutes of the April 4th meeting read no corrections approved.
Supervisor asked if the Board was ready to act on the request
of Mr. Buckingham.
In accord with the policy adopted by the Board for the building
of roads into and for new developments the following action was
taken.
Resolved by Mr. Ozmunsecunded Mr Kidney:
That the request of Mr. Albert Buckingham for the building of a road
245 feet in length north on Sweazey road above Railroad property
be denied this decision being based on the recent Town Board road
building policy, and the Town Clerk be instructed to so notify
Mr. Buckingham.
Carried all voted Aye.

Atty. Williamson presented and explained notice of qualified
J abandonment of Town Highway[ , 1,000 feet or more of the East end
of Brown Road 300 feet East of Northeast corner of property owned
by Cornell University and occupied by General Electric, to the existing
end of Brown road, said abandonment being given public notice by the
County Superintendent of highways and the Town Boardare authorized
to execute the certificate of abandonment Copy of notice attached
to minutes. He also explained the same procedure was necessary for
a portion of Town Line road 190 feet north of pld Brown Road thence
South 2,119 feet more or less.
Resolution No 1 Abandonment of portion of Brown Road
Mr Kidney offered the following resolution and moved its adoption:
Whereas, it appears to the Town Board of the Town of Lansing ,
that a portion of Brown Road described as follows, to wit:- t4
Beginningat the center line of Brown Road 300 feet east of the
northeast corner of the property owned by Cornell University,
occupied by the General Electric. Company; thence running easterly
along Brown Road a distance of 1,000 feet more or less to the existing
end of Brown Road'', has not become wholly disused but it has not
for two years beenusually travelled along the greater part thereof
by more than two vehicleds daily, in addition to pedestrians and
persons on horseback, and
Whereas a hearing was duly held upon public notice by; -tai@
Superintendent of Highways of the County of Tompkins New York,
regarding the proposed qualified abandonment of that portion of
Brown Road heretofore described, and ,
Whereas the Superintendent of Highways of the County of Tompkins
has decided and certified an abandonment of such highway is proper.
and will not cause injustice or hardship to the owner or occupant
of any lands adjoining the same,
Resolved, by the Town Hoard of the Town of Lansing, that the
members of the Town Hoard are authorized to execute the certificate
of Qualified Abandonment of that portion of Brown Road heretofore
described.
Seconded by Mr Ferris.
Carried all voted Aye.
Resolution No,2 Abandonment of Portion of Townline Road,
Mr Howell offered the following resolutionand moved its adoption:
Whereas, it appears to the Town Board of the_,Town of Lansing
that a portion of Townline Road described as follows, to wit:
''Beginning 190 feet north of the intersection of the center line
of old.Brown Road and the center-line of Townline Road; thence running
south along the Townline Road a distance of 2,119 feet more or less,
has not become wholly disused but it has not for two years been'
usually traveled along the greater part thereof by more than twc

road adjoins the premises of the.County of Tompkins, New York, and is
occupied by Mohawk Airlines, Incto, and
WHEREAS, the aforedescribed portion of Brown Road is claimed not to
have become fully disused but that it has not for the last two years been
usually travelled along the greater part thereof by more than two vehicles
daily, in addition to pedestrians and persons on horseback,;and
WHEREAS, it duly appears to the undersigned Superintendent of Highways
of the County of Tompkins, New York, that a qualified abandonment of such
highway is proper and will not cause injustice or hardship to the owner or
occupant of any .lands adjoining such highway;
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the undersigned Superintendent-.of
Highways of the County of.Tompkins, New York,_shall hold a public hearing
at his office in the County Court House, Ithaca, New York on the 23rd day
of April , 1959,, at 2 o" clock P*Ma on the question of whether
the aforesaid highway shall be qualifiedly abandoned pursuant to the terms
and provisions of Section 205 of the Highway Law of the State of New York;
and that all persons interested in the matter will then and there be heard.

WHEREAS a hearing was duly held upon public notice,by the
Superintendent of Highways by the County of Tompkins, New York, regarding

Supervisor Dates presented his monthly report explaining same
in detail , filing same with the Towm Clerk.
upervisor also advised the Board that the Finger Lakes'Coon Hunting
Club had notified him that they had decided not to lease the part
of the Albert Brown property which had been advertised'for lease and
that there being no objections filed to the leaseing of the farm land
on the filbert Brown farm to Lloyd Marshall Atty. Williamson be authorized
to prepare a lease for Mr. tarsha.11 to sign.
Highway 6uperintendent gave his report , reporting highway
equipment repaired and ready , patching black top roads under headway,
Myers Heights road in process of construction and oiling innfront
of houses will be done this year.
Motion by.Mr Ferris.seconded by Mr Kidney:
That bills numbered from 59 thru 66 as listed in the record of Town
accounts-be paid as audited.
Carried all voted Aye.
Motion by Mr Ozmun s�-cbnded by Mr Howell:
That the Supervisor be authorized to pay on the presentation of a
bill for Memorial Day purposes the sum of 028.00 each to the following
seven Cemetaries, Asbury, German East Lansing, LgnsiIiSvJJJ @,
Ludlowville, hakeridge and North Lansing .
Carried all voted Aye,
