Supervisor "Dates called the meeting to order with the reading of the minutes of the March 7th meeting by the Clerk. There being no corrections the minuted stand approved . Mr Searles was called on : Mr. Searles said he was the spokesman for the Finger Lakes Coon Hunting Club and was here to get the dicision of the Board on leaseing the Rormer Albert Brown house and some land for a club House and what the terms would be. This was discussed at length Attorney Williamson adviseing the Board that the property could be leased by the Board but a resolution would have to. be adppted subject to a permissive referendum which would not become effective until 30 days-from date of adoption . Resolution By Mr. Howell seconded by Mr. Ozmun: Resolved: Whereas, the Town Board determines the ^t the former Albert Brown house and about two acres of land around said house , now owned by the Town of Lansing, are no longer needed for town purposes; and Whereas, the Finger Lakes Coon Hunters Club of Lansing has offerel to rent said building and land from the Town of Lansing for period of five(5 years commencing liay 15, 1959 and ending May 14, 1964, for the rental of $1.00 per year; and Whereas, the said Club has stated that it will make repairs to said building, Resolved, that the Town Board hereby authorizes the lease of said building and about 2 acres of land. around said building from the Town of �ansing to the Finger Lakes Coon Hunters Club of Lansing from May 15, 1959 to May 149 1964, provided the lub execute a lease with the Town of Lansing meeting the following conditions: 1. Rental of $1.00 per year . 2. Pay the premium for liability insurance covering the building and entire farm area in the same amount and with the same coverage as id carried by the Town under their Town Comprehensive Liability Policy. 3. Pay the fire insurance premiums on said building, which building will be insured for $1,000.00. 4. Make improvements and repairs to said building. 59 Pay for the expense of publishing the necessary notice. Resolved Further, that the supervisor is hereby authorized and directed to execute said lease on behalf of the Town& yhis resolution is adopted subject to permissive referendum. Resolution by Mr Ferris seconded by Mr. Ozmun: .�. iloyd Marshall Resolved: Whereas, the Town Board determines that about 30 acres of the former Albert Brown farm land, now owned by the Town of Lansing, are no longer needed for Town purposes; and Whereas, Mr Lloyd Marshall has offered to pay $5.00 per acre to farm said 30 acres for the 1959 season; Resolved,4`tha:t the Town Board hereby authorizes the lease of said 30 acres of the former.Brown farm no longer needed for town purposes for $5.00 per acre for the 1959 season from the Town of Lansingto Lloyd Marshall for the purpose of growing and harvesting crops thereon, and the supervisor is hereby authorized and directed to execute said lease on the behalf of the town . This resolution is adopted subject to permissive referendum. Carried all voted Aye. The board was hor_ered by a visit of a former Justiceof Peace Robert Bower , he being interested in town affairs wished to keep in touch from time to time. Letter from. the University of the State of New York reads: :..regarding the Rbdis.tricting and numbering of the supervisory districts of Tompkins County to A vacancy exists due to resignation of Superintendent of schools srving our school district along with others of the County it being no longer necessary to have three districts therefore reducing to two district serving Lansing will be District Second Towns of Caroline, Danby, Dryden, Qroton, Ithpca and Lansing. Letter filed. Highway '' uperintendent reported repair of machinery nearly completed and ready to begin repair of highways which were damaged extensively by the severe winter . He also reported the illness of highway employee Delf ord Barnes. The subject of the Town policy of building roads into new developments for developers again discussed as it being the thought of the Board that it should be further revised . Discussion , the following action was taken . Resolution by Mr. Howell seconded by Mr. Ferris: Resolved that from and after this date the Town of Lansing shall not accept any new requests for the construction of Town Roads in any houseing development, However, the Town Board may accept a deed for a completed road from a developer provided said road meets the requirements of the Town Law, Highway Law, the Townts Highway specifications on file with the Town Superintendent, and provided said road is approved by the Town Superintendent of Highways, upon acceptance of any said deed the Town shall thereafter maintain the road as a towh highway. Motion by Mr. Ozmun seconded by Mr. Howell: That bills numbered from 49 thru 58 as listed in the record of Town accounts be paid.a.s audited . Carried all voted Aye. 4/4/59 A Atty.,:Williamson reported deeds to road from Countyand Cornell to down of Lansing for extension of Brown Road to location of new General lectric building are now in the New York Office of the F. A. A. for approval and the abandonement of a 1,000 foot strip of Bro*n.roadfeEstv.;.i-fromtent °ranee to airport is being taken care of by doun.t.v Supt. of Highways . Mr ,Williamson, reportedhe •wgsAn the process of establishing a value to, the land involved in the claim of Mr. 1'a it as to the surronding lots an .option given by tIr La Rue for the purchase of the portion where hedge was removed this Mr. Williamson believes should control the value of land in this claim .
