The Lansing Town Board met in adjourned session 1:30 ?am* at youth Lansing
Fire gall to act upon the appointment'of a planning board for the Town of Lansing
as requested by a petition'placed before the Board June 7, 1958 and any other
business that may be brought befobe it, Supervisor Dates presiding.

Supervisor Dates read the petition requesting *he appointment.of.a planning
board explaining that any ordinances recommended by a planning board.would have to be
passdd by the board could not be by referendum unless by special act of the.
legislature.
Meeting opened for discussion, following this the following was placed before the
board. '

Whereas this Board has received several petitions containing over 200 names of citizens of
the Town of Lansing and,
Whereas>thesepetit1ons asks this Town Board to appoint a planning Board to report
directly to this lowh;Board, now therefore be it*
Resolved that we appoint a seven (7) member planning *Ooard, with these
seven membersnearly as possible representing different sections and interests
in the Town. One member being appointed for one year and another member being
appointed for two years etc. for each and every member , therefore we would have
to make a new appointment or'reappointment each year.
Effective date , first meeting in July % 58each and every.year until committee
has been disbandeddby Town Board , I so move.
Notion was lost for lack of a second.
Clerk read letter from department of audit and control acknowledging the
receipt report on the special census, also letter from lthac a Public School
system relative to the filling out an application for the use of the Gibbs
School House for election purposes.
Superintendent Sharpsteen explained to the Board that he had ,learned
that the Albert Brown property wherethe Town were, getting gravel for highways
was to be sold and ac it was a very good sou:iwe.of gravel he and the Supervisor
investigated, In.order to have assurance thaft the Town would be able to
have a chance to purchase this property an option was taken on this property
by paying $1900 , purchase price $4,250000
This pption to purchase subject to action of the Town Board

Highway Superintendent Sharpsteen reported that he had been checking the
different types of Highway Department buildings and'his findings is reasonably
sure that a suitable addition to the present Town kaarge can be built by the
Town Highway Department without jeopardizing the highway w6rk and.at.ca more
reasonably price than by a contractor e A steel type building of a size large
enough to have office space as well as room for servicing equipment could be
built and possibly some type of masonry construction*
