Minutes of the Jan. 4,58 meeting read no corrections approved. Visitors Kenneth Tarbell, Oliver Holden, Ernest Wilkinson and Edwin Filmer. Letter from Susan Haring accepting the appointment as Town Historian for 2 years read in the letter she also cited the need for some financial help to clean up the part of the Pine Grove Cemetary known as the Ludlow plot which is the Burial ground of the founders of the viltage 'of Ludlowvilleo A pledge for some funds has been given by a decendent of this family providing additional funds could be raised to make it possible to mow this plot. Letter filed o - Letter from T. B. Maxfield C.P.A. making statement as to his findings inthe audit of the Supervisorls accounts for 1957 to Dec. 28,57 read and filed . Clerk read a letter to the Supervisor from Robert G. Bower submitting his resignation as Justiae-of Peace of the Town of Lansing to be effective February 1, 1958. Motion by Mr. Ozmun seconded by Mr. Howell: That the resignation of Robert G. Bower as Justice of Peace effective is of February 1, E958 , be accepted with regrets , clerk to write a letter to Mr. Bower extending to him the appreciation of the Lansing 'own Board for the fine service and cooperation he has rendered to the Town during the yea7 of his service as a member of the Town Board. Carried all voted Aye Letter from Mrs. Veda Holden sec. of the Lansing Republican committee read submitting the following names to be considered for appointment as Justicgg of Peace in place of Robert Bower resigned, Mr. Robert Baker- of North Lansing , N. Y. and Carleton Kintz of Ludlowville, R. Y. a Letter from Mr. Robert Baker to Supervisor Dates read respectfully withdrawing his name as a possible appointee for Justice of the Peace in place of Mr. Bower resigned. Letters filed. Meeting-opened for the appointment of a Justice of the Peace in place of Robert G. Bower resigned , appointment to be from Feb. 1, 58 to Dec. 31, 1958. Mr Howell presented the name of Carleton Kintz to act as Justice of the Peace from Feb. 1, 1958 to Dec. 31, 1958 in place of Mr. Bower resigned . Supervisor Dates -after asking other Board members and visitors if they had any name to submit for this appointment and no other name was presented, Supervisor called for a roll call vote on the name of Carleton Kints.for the appointment as Justice of Peace to fill vacancy by resignation of Mr. Bower. Clerk called . Mr. Lowell For Mr. Kidney For Mr. Ozmun For All present voted for Mr. Kintz. Carleton Kintz declared appointed Justice of Feace to fill vacancy caused by resignation :of Robert G. Bower effective as of Feb. 1, 58 to Deco 31, 1958• Supervisor Dates read a letter -from the rational GrangeLiabi- lkty:Insurance Co. relative to the claim of Roger'La Rue for damagescaused by Highway Dept. remaoving certain hedge on Mr.. aruals property on Sperry .Lane also one from Atty. James Clines Insurance Cnls tty denying the claim Aue to the fact. that no legal written claim was submitted within 90 days by Mr. to Hue. :Supervisor stated that he had notified Mr. a Rues Atty. Louis Thaler of the decision of the Ins. Co., also stating thaj the Town would not pay the existing claim , would be willing to work with qualified appraisers. Motion by Mr Kidney seconded by Mr. Howell: That the Supervisor.be authorised to employ an attorney to settle the La Rue claim and secure remaining rights of way along Sperry taneso that Sperry Lane would be a legal Town Highway of 50 foot in width. Of Carried all voted Ayeo -. Resolution :.Approprition of moneys to prepard and plan of proposed water District. Resolution by Mr. Howell seconded by Mr. Ozmun: Resolved ; that the Town Board appropriate from the General fund the sum of $1,.000000 to pay the cost of preparing a general.mep and plan for providing water service to the area of the Town of Lansing generally covering that.. portion of the Town of Lansing from Cayuga Lake North along Myers load to Route 34 B; thence East to the location of the new Elementary School siteo . thence westerly along routs.34 B to and including Lake View Drive and Sperry Lane; Pursuant to section 191A of the Town Law and be it further Resolved that this resolution is adopted subject to a permissve referendum . Carried all voted Aye. Highway Superintendent gave his report , removing'snow being the main highway job at present . New truck artived and put in service very favorable preformance in snow removal. Motiran by Mr. Ozmun seconded by mr. Howells That the bills numbered froml0 to 23 listed in record of Town accounts be paid as audited . Carried all voted �.AAye Motion by Mr. Ozmun seconded by Mr Kidney; That Kenneth Tarbell be appointed building inspector for the Town of Lansing . Carried all voted Aye. Resolution by Mr. Osmun seconded by Mr. Kidney: Resolved that the Supervisor's Highway Bonds and Delford Barnes constable bonds be approved as to ammount and Surety orpany . Carried all voted Aye. Supervisor Dates presented his monthly report explaing same as to fund balanc as receipts and expenditures repobt filed with Town Clerko Adjourned 4020 P. M'.
