Update on plan for Lansing Center Trail Area In the absence of a long-term plan for the Town property, if was determined to continue with the efforts by Parks and Rec with potential help from NYSEG to mow areas near the parking area that have not been moved for several years. Native trees and shrubs in these areas will be tagged so that they can left to populate the area. More meadow-like areas will continue to be mowed to as needed to prevent invasive shrubs from over growing the areas. 3. Climate Smart Communities application Ashley Seyfried attended the meeting to explain the issues with the Town’s application. Most of what was submitted was rejected for various reasons. The first issue that was noted was the rejection of the make-up of the CSC task force and a failure to provide minutes of CSC meetings. Since the task force was not properly constituted, the minutes issue was moot. A CSC task force seems to need to have a town board member and a town employee along with community members. Two sets of minutes of a CSC meeting within the year of the application will be needed. Town Board needs to pass resolution defining a new CSC committee. Once a proper committee is identified, the specific of other items rejected can be addressed. This will not be a simple fix.
