Help inventory the species of the Lansing Center Trail area
with the iNaturalist app or walk along with experts for
scheduled presentations on August 8th

Lansing Center Trail Bioblitz

A bioblitz is a communal effort to record as many species
within a designated location and time period as possible.

Walk along with experts to discover the plants, animals, and fungi of the Lansing
Center Trails and contribute your own observations for science!

How to use iNaturalist

1) Download the app from your app store.
2) Use your email address.
3) Fill in your username (the app will let you know if it's already been taken).
4) Create a password.
5) You will also see checkboxes asking if you allow your data (the living things you observe using
the app) to be used so scientists can learn from them, and privacy agreements.
6) Start using the app!
You'll be using the iNaturalist app to make observations and identifications of living things
(plants, animals, fungi, and other life).

Basic instructions:
1. Tap on the green button with the + sign in the lower part of the screen.
2. Add one or more photos or sounds as evidence.
3. Choose an identification for what you saw. Get suggestions or search for a taxon.
You can always choose a coarse taxon like Plants, Insects, or Fungi.
4. When you saw it should be added automatically.
5. Where you saw it should be added automatically, or select the "Add Location" button and confirm
where you are when you see your location on the map. If it doesn't, check Privacy in your Settings.
6. Save your observation.
7. Sync to share with the community. On iPhone, tapping "Upload" will automatically share it.
8. Check back for activity on your observation from the community or be notified by email to the
address in your account settings.
